Flux Focuses

The rise of the Hidden Clockwork Moon and the Silversong Moon has caused havoc with the transformations of the shifters and other shapechangers who live among us. Their transformations have been "infected" with clockwork, pure silver, or inky tentacled blackness. They have discovered that flux focuses made with materials from the three moons allow them to choose their shift. The control isn't perfect, but at least they now have some relief.

The lycans and werefolk I know in the Horde don't use the focuses! They came to the Pit to soak in the chaos. They love the new forms that came with the new moons! Especially the black tentacley one!

With the rise of new moons, the shapeshifters of the world have suffered from the illnesses known as Hidden Moon Frenzy and Aberrant Lycanthropy. They have lost control of their shift and suffer a random mechanical, silvery, or black shadow version of the transformation that they intended.

In order to counteract it the artificers of the Zone have begun manufacturing flux focuses made from materials found on the moons. They have discovered that a mix of materials from each of the moons offers the best control. The focus is custom-made for each shapechanger that needs one. Preferably from materials that they acquired themselves from each of the moons.

Many shifters view the process of acquiring materials from the moons as a rite of passage, a journey to the source of their blessing/affliction that gives them a deeper connection to their shapechanging nature. The shifter warriors of Winter's Horde have arranged for an exchange with the Thayan Armada and the Blue Goblins to gain access to the moons for the materials that they need.

The flux focuses have become highly sought after and those who can craft them can charge top Bilog for their services. Crafting a focus is an itricate process, requiring precise calibration to give the shapechanger acccess to the shift that they want.
