Tower Town Settlement in World of Wizard's Peak | World Anvil

Tower Town

Tower Town serves as the intellectual capital of the Kirinal Concordance Zone and our world of Erathia. The finest minds come from every continent, and even other planes and dimensions, to study Tower Town's unique blend of the arcane and scientific arts. Great advancements in maharlitech pour unceasingly from the city's busy research labs and arcane workshops.

I ain't the one to ask about research books or magic whangdoodle, but I do know all about good food and good music! It turns out that washed up spell slingers end up being really good cooks and musicians. You have to experience the cuisine and club culture in Tower Town for yourself to believe it!

Tower Town is full of young spellcasters freshly graduated from Wizard's Peak University. They come here to serve their mandatory two years of service for the Sovranty of Lozar or they come to join one of the many magitech research labs or combat wizard guilds that flourish here.

The city bursts with the energy of brilliant young people taking their first steps outside of academia. After a lifetime of intense studying this is their first chance to put down their wands and let down their hair. Finally their free time belongs to them and they work hard enjoying themselves!

Rise of the Towers

Like the other Embassy Cities, Tower Town was built to support Chagroth's Tower, its corresponding fortress on the Kirinal Pit. In the early years, just after the Kirinal Catastrophes these settlements were small, just stopping points for supplies and troops.

Few people wanted to live near the dangers of the Pit. In the first few decades, only military families and those with a high tolerance for risk would live there.

However, once the Orrery of Worlds began to work the interdimensional chaos calmed down. It became clear that there was a lot of money to be made harvesting the Manifest and trading with the sophonts in it.

The population of Tower Town and the other Embassy Cities swelled as people came from around the world, and other worlds, to participate in the "Kirinal Boom". Tower Town quickly grew out of its original walled enclosure. As the population has expanded, the walls have been rebuilt to protect the populace and ward them from evil spirits.

Districts of Tower Town

by Chris L

The City of Towers is composed of five main districts within the city walls and two outside of it. The districts inside the walls are fully protected by the Tower Town Watch and the magical wards infused into the city's walls.

Those who live outside the walls are not as protected as those who dwell within. They must evacuate into the city on Days of War and Vigilance.

Inner Districts

Glass Barrow
A mixed residential and commercial district

Wizard's Cross
Devoted to magical research and arcane engineering

Silver Gate District
A thriving arts district with incredible cuisine

South Road
Home of the wealthy

Castle Ward
Seat of the Silver Assembly

Outer Districts

Winestair
Cheap housing for those without the means to live inside the walls.

The Forge
Here artificers conduct maharlitech rituals too dangerous to perform inside the city walls

Guilds & Alumni Associations of Wizard's Cross

The Wizard's Cross district is a hotbed of arcane research and maharlitech fabrication. The high concentration of wizards from WPU and other arcane colleges join alumni associations in Tower Town. They make contacts and relive the glory days at their alma mater. Others form associations based on their specializations and arcane interests.

Argent Arcanum

The largest WPU alumni association is the Argent Arcanum. They maintain chapter houses throughout the western Krosia and throughout he largest cities in the world. WPU alumni who pay their dues can access their libraries, living quarters, and resident sages whenever they wish.

Contract Voltaic

Arcanists specializing in lightning and thunder have formed a society to harness the power of voltaic energy in maharlitech. Their engineers work on lightning rail and thunder prisms used in both war and entertainment.

Of the Arcanum

The small but growing population of goblin grads of WPU form an especially tight organization. Many of them are the first of their family or clan to become formal wizards.

Party Harder in the Silver Gate District

The Silver Gate District is the entertainment district of Tower Town. Inns, taverns and art spaces fill converted warehouses and outdated factories.

New arrivals and single grads especially want to live in the inexpensive apartments of Silver Gate. They enjoy the raucous crowds and frequent street festivals.

Some of the best known taverns and bars include:

Grig's Grotto
The best dance club in the Zone plays a wide variety of music on the different days of the week.

Campus Cantrips
Conversations and drinks flow freely at this laid back rooftop beer garden on top of a magical library of the same name.

Tito Corbin's

Kirinal Concordance Zone

The Kirinal Concordance Zone was created around the Kirinal Pit to act as a buffer zone to defend against interplanar invasions. The Pit is a 30-mile hole in reality that chaotically manifests a different world or plane at random times.

Eventually, the people of Erathia tamed the Pit, setting it on a schedule so that an ordered succession of planes would appear over the Days of the Week.
