Warin
Those who would support Warin had already made themselves known. The council of lords on Skyhold was filled with the heirs of lordships, cousins, and other kin of the lords of the sector.
Warin found that he held far more of his father’s support then he believed. He did gain his support in the council chambers far more often then he would have thought.
Still, he lacked the support of the other System-lord that reported to his father. He often had the support of System-lord Karth’s eldest son and heir Connor.
Most of Warin’s support came from the New Holm System. Although he didn’t have the support of the System-lord Baldric Sundancer he did have the support of the Highlord of Newholm and Gategard. Although he did get support more from time to time from Highlords of the Barrows and Kratos Systems.
Warin found his main opponent to be Highlord Keyes of Dark Depth within the Holderness System itself and the bishops and other holy figures of the Fabian Faith.
Even still, more often than Warin found he was able to push things through the council.
“There has been word from Bastion,” his father called out from his raised throne. The only seat in the room. The rest of them stood below at the base of the steps to the throne. Each lord with those lords he supported.
“King Oswald is to be married, and I must send guests and gifts.” The System-lord stated with a joyful glee.
Warin sighed. He could not care who the king married or did not and it was a waste of time. Time the council could be using on other matters. “Surely…” Warin started but was stopped by the voice of Highlord Keyes as she stepped forward.
“May I suggest that a delegation be formed with Underlord Warin at it’s head to represent us?” The Highlord of Dark Depth suggested.
Several lords muttered their agreement as Warin looked about the room to try and protest. “A vote,” he heard from the gathering while he tried to protest against such a notion.
“My lords, my lords,” System-lord Walter called out until the room became quiet. “I think we can all agree that the Underlord would be of more use here in Holderness.”
“Vote,” a lord cried out followed by a short chorus of agreement.
The System-lord slumped on his throne. “No,” he whispered to himself.
“Does the lord refuse a vote?” another lord shouted.
Warin looked at his father and sighed. “If the lords so wish for me to lead a party of their choice. Then of course, I will accept such an honor.”
