Hilda
Hilda kept looking down at her hand as more people came and went from the great hall. She was tired, and a part of wanted to claim that she had dreamed it all, but she knew better. It had been more than week since the attack took place, and sleep was something that just didn’t seem to come easy.
Commander Ironstorm informed her that several more floors had been taken, and much of the estate was in the hands of her own forces, but there were underground tunnels, and those who refused to surrender, not to mention the bot attacks the the troops considered some ghost isn’t of what they truly were. Local forces from the nearby city had been used to secure the country side, and shuttles brought in new reinforcements, and supplies daily.
Captain Atwood had suggested that Hilda should leave the surface, and get back on the ‘Jade Grip’, but she declined. She wanted to be where the action was, and it would take too long for shuttles to relay messages to, and from the surface of the planet. Instead she insisted the captain join the crew, and shuttles were to run non stop to relay messages every several minutes to estate, and other major settlements.
Hilda had also given the order for the Captain to bring in nearby starships from the Commonwealth Dumgarth Garrison Fleet, and to use personal from the system, and sector fleet of Dumgarth to aid in putting down the rebellion, or whatever the hell it was. She also gave him orders to begin to insert members of the guard onto those starships, on the off chance they had to be taken over, as well as to continue to arrest anyone that could possibly be linked to the current events.
The first reports of attacks on locals were confirmed to be planet wide. She didn’t know what the hell was going on, but her focus was on the situation at hand at the Stonehill Hold estate. It seemed people of Furse stock had been targeted largely, but many were caught in the open by the attacks. Most of them had been put down by those local forces, and the lords of the area, backed up by the reinforcements from the starships in orbit.
As the days passed by, and the fighting lessened, Hilda found herself staring at the ring more, and more, but nothing ever happened.
Hilda continued to star at her hand as Commander Ironstorm finished his debriefing. “Another twenty seven dead in the tunnels. Still no signs of the boy, but the attacks are getting lighter. All resistance has been ended on the main levels, and all deaths reported have been in the tunnels. Outside of that, the settlements are also reporting the end of fighting.”
“Very good,” Hilda said with a yawn, and almost abscessed minded.
“Reports on getting power back up and running?” Hilda asked.
Commander Zero shook her head. Hilda had brought her chief engineer down to the surface to try and figure it out. “No ser, I’m no closer to figuring it out than when I first arrived. Thank the gods minor equipment works, it wasn’t some sort of EMP blast. Likely only thing keeping deaths from mounting higher across the world, but I’m no closer to getting major systems up here or anywhere else on the planet.”
Hilda nodded. “Okay folks, lets get back to work, let me know if anything changes. And continue to salavge the starships which come into system for parts, and supplies for the planet.”
“Yes ser,” the officers replied, and left the great hall.
“Okay,” Hilda said when she was alone, and she stared at the ring. “You want my help. I want yours.” The ring glowed.
