Cassandra
The trip from the Nakon Union to the Jom System was uneventful. Cassandra hated the quarantine setup for the world of Jom. One would think that the time spent in space between the stars would have been enough, but it wasn’t for the Jom High Command.
The world of Jom was also as a close to a holy world to the Jom as any world could be. The system where the last great High King of the Empire died destroying the Jump Gate of the Skoll, and ending the Skoll threat which had made the Old Ruins fourteen hundred years ago.
High King Jom’s personal forces had continued the fight and survived the fall of the Empire. The Order of Jom had grown until it was one of the strongest forces in Furse Space, and often was hired by the Bolgars and sometimes even Fabian Lords. They were kingmakers, and their knew it.
Still, the quarantine was a pain. For two weeks Cassandra would be able to look down on the world of Jom and it’s oceans and lakes and be stuck with the pools on ‘The Cave’.
There would be training drills setup. Training for ship base combat was standard within Furse Space. Boarding actions, defensive actions. A ship was worth more intact, and so they tried for combat in space as much as they did for combat on the gravity of a world or a planet without atmosphere. It kept them sharp and every guessing what they would find at the end of each trip.
Their training also made them feared throughout not just Furse Space, but into Bolgar Space and Fabian Space as well where Furse tactics were less common. Death was a glory waiting for them. A time when they could meet their ancestors and rejoice with them for their deeds and their own. The Furse didn’t fear death like most other cultures, not like the Fabians.
The Old Blood Furse of the Dragon’s Head Nebula had converted to the Fabian Faith long ago, and many Furse still lived there from the recent conquests, but they had grown weak. Cassandra looked forward to the days of old when the Furse were feared all throughout Fabian Space. When the Lost King, Rothgar Aegis brought fear to all outside Furse Space.
Cassandra had never seen the world of Jom so busy and full of life. Many legions had returned to cast their votes in person, and those legions which could not had arrived with ballots from their brothers and sisters. She wasn’t sure the tenth would be around for the vote when they had left the system all those months ago, but she was happy to be part of it.
