Summon the Gift Giver Ritual

In recent years, the legendary red elf, Klaus the Gift Giver, has appeared on our own world of Erathia. He is summoned by the Heavenly Council of Ki-rins through the magic of Anamas to carry out his appointed duties on Anamas Eve.

Ever since they heard stories about the Winter Solstice Father from other dimensions, the goody-goodies on the Council have been trying to duplicate his results here on our world. They've never been able to get the global gift coverage that's reported on other worlds. Looks like they've decided to skip the middle man and just get old Klaus to do the work himself!

The ritual to summon Klaus the Gift Giver opens a portal to another Prime World where an Avatar of the Winter Solstice resides. They summon the Gift giver through the portal with a traditional offering of milk and cookies. They tried to start with gold and jewels, but the Gift Giver had no need for either.

Summon the Gift Giver

9th level conjuration

Casting Time: 1 hour

Range: 60 ft

Components: V, S, M (A plate of cookies, a cup of warm milk, a totem of the Gift Giver from his native reality)

Duration: 1 Night

The ritual can only be performed on Anamas Eve and must be completed by at least four good-aligned beings with a CR of 12 or a level of 17. They conjure a portal linking a space they can see within range to the home dimension of one of the Avatars of the Winter Solstice. The space must contain a totem to that mulitversal Avatar. The totem is consumed during the casting. The circular portal can be oriented in any direction and can be of any diameter between 5 to 20 feet.

On the other side of the portal the Gift Giver can come through the portal or ignore it of their own volition. They are under no obligation to accept the invitation. The casters of the ritual usually provide an offering of cookies, warm milk, a list of good children, and traditional songs.

Only the summoned Gift Giver, their regalia, their transport, and up to eight nine of his designated servants can pass through the portal.

Summon the Gift Giver Plot Hooks

The Ruptured Ritual

On Anamas Eve, the ritual to summon the Gift Giver has been sabotaged and the Krampus has been summoned instead. The players must banish the entity and correct the ritual in time to save Anamas!

The Missing Totem

On the day before Anamas, the totem required for the ritual has gone missing. The players must track it down, or replace it, facing down the plot to stop Gifts Giving. If they replace the totem, they have to negotiate with the new Gift Giver from a fresh world who won't know what's going on!

The Pumpkin King

The ritual summons another spirit instead of the Gift Giver, the Harvest Pumpkin King. This spirit of trickery doesn't understand the true sentiments of the Winter's Solstice celebration. The group must explain it to him and save Anamas.

Reindeer Games

The Gift Giver's designated servants are scattered through the multiverse when they attempt to come through the portal with them. The party must retrieve them from the worlds they've been stranded in... or replace them.

The Naughty List

Someone has switched the Naughty and Nice lists and children are receiving the wrong gifts or punishments. You must make sure that the naughty are punished and the nice are rewarded and you must find out who has caused this predicament.

The Hellish Helpers

The Gift Giver is running late for some reason and may not be able to complete his rounds in time. Help comes from an unexpected source, Titivilus , the Ambassador of Hell offers to step in and help... for a price!

I love, love, love this, and not just because it means that the Santa from the CLU could one day turn up in the World of Wizard's Peak! Each of those plot hooks had me smiling more than the last, too. Great work!
