Session 4: Dread & Breakfast

The Double A company takes a job to investigate disappearances taking place on the safe roads through the perilous Anomalous Forest. The infamous Father Ozniah Zug has offered a reward for the return of his apprentice Jonjo Starr. The apprentice has gone missing, along with one of Father Oz's labs.

They travel there on the Day of Prime when the famous world of Krynn is the Manifest in the Pit that day.

As they travel along the Kirinal River, they meet a mysterious traveler held "prisoner" by two strange looking dragonborn. They determine that these draconians are too powerful for them to tangle with and they continue on to their destination.

They find trampled clearings full of hundreds of footprints and the bones and belongings of the dead. They come upon a cowering elf who watched his entire caravan enter a tavern that had been in the clearing. The sounds of screaming and combat came from inside, the lights went out, and the tavern stood up on hundreds of feet and walked off!

The bounty hunters easily followed the massive tracks to find a suspicious tavern full of shadows that repeated the same movements over and over. They tried to burn the tavern from the outside, but the cowardly elf told them that the only way to hurt it was from the inside.

They entered the tavern and discovered strangely artificial looking people and cold lights. They were promptly attacked by the furnishings as the "people' merged into the structure. A giant eyeball opened on one of the walls, and they realized that the entire tavern was a mimic.

They went through several stages of battle. Once they defeated the first wave of mimics, they were miniaturized and set on one of the tables. There they fough mimics in the shape of condiments and chicken bones. They met this challenge as well.

In the end they finally found Jonjo Starr. His experiments with mimics in Father Oz's lab had transformed him, merging him with a swarm of mimics and the lab itself. They became a predatory tavern that ate unsuspecting travelers.

The group defeated the mimic hybrid and Father Oz came to collect his former apprentice, disappearing with the gigantic monster for further experimentation.

Mimic Mania

A number of individuals have gone missing in the Anomalous Forest recently, with their bones and effects left behind. There were no signs of scavenging or looting, but bones and metal were wiped clean.

Double A was in search of Jonjo Starr and the Tangled Pine Terror. They were met by a menagerie of mimics who took the form of an entire tavern! They even miniaturized the team and had them fighting against sauce bottles and food scraps.

Surprisingly enough, Jonjo Starr was the mmimic tavern! He was trapping patrons of the tavern, murdering, and eating hundreds of them.

He was successfully handled by Double A, leaving a little piece of the Forest clear for travelers once again.
