Maggot Jerky

With travel to the Silversong Moon becoming more common, the goblins have tried to introduce some of their delicacies into the cuisine of other mortal races. Despite all of their attempts, the goblin delicacy maggot jerky is not one of them. It's one of the most popular treats in Goblin Town and on the Blue Aria of their moon. Other mortals can't seem to get over the fact that they're eating maggots. So far, I have resisted the efforts of my co-instructor to get me to try it.

One thing we orcs share with the goblins is our sense of adventure when it comes to cuisine! I don't get how humies and point-ears get all riled up by some delicious maggot jerky! It's wonderful exercise for your jaws and I personally love the piquant taste of rot, garbage, and umami! If you can get over yourselves, I have some for you to try after class!

Since ancient times, goblins have used giant flies for food and transport. Goblins, even modern civilized ones, have very little fussiness about what they're eating or what they're riding. They don't really understand why most mortals won't ride or eat such an easily available animal.

Adult flies are very tough and even goblins only eat them as a last resort. However their maggots are tender and sweet, but they do tend to retain the taste of whatever they've been eating themselves. The goblins maintain giant fly farms and harvest the excess maggots for their meat. They turn the tougher bits into maggot jerky that's popular for the long trip between the world of Erathia and the goblin haven of Blue Aria on the Silversong Moon.

Giant fly farms have become especially popular on the third moon. Hex Crystal does not charge off planet and the goblins use giant flies as one of their main sources of transportation in Jennook.

I'm all for umami and have tried more things than a lot of people I know, but tasting/smelling of rot and garbage is a line.   Good writing, but I will pass on this "delicacy"

Check out some of my summer camp articles, like the dangerous flying jackalope or dragon wasps. Or, for something more light-hearted, there is the whimsical language Gobbledygook and Jaden's interesting job as a guano polisher.
