Session 29: The Tree of the Sun Report
General Summary
As the black acorn is placed within the skeletal mouth of Rampol, the God of the Sun, a miraculous transformation takes place before the eyes of the Pit Patrol. Vines snake around the skeleton, weaving together to form sinew and muscle. Bark envelops the vines, giving rise to skin adorned with intricate patterns of overlapping leaves. Hair blossoms forth in a cascade of vibrant flowers, and twin suns radiate from the eye sockets, filling the area with a warm and celestial glow.
Rampol awakens, his consciousness now embedded within the trunk of a magnificent tree, its branches reaching high into the heavens. With a telepathic voice, he queries, "Who has raised me from my rest?" The Patrollers point to D'Wat, who stands at the heart of this miraculous event.
Turning his gaze upon Zernon, Rampol beseeches the leonin paladin to name the newfound Tree of the Sun. Zernon, in a moment of profound inspiration, dubs it "Zernon's Eclipse." The sun god acknowledges the choice with a smile and grants the Pit Patrol a unique gifts befitting their destiny.
Rampol, in his newly awakened state, imparts further blessings to the Patrollers:
- Eternal Dawn Shield: This +2 shield, when wielded, allows Zernon to invoke a bonus action to gain resistance against a chosen damage type once per day.
- Edge of the Storm Axe: The Axe of Fez is elevated to new heights, becoming a +2 Axe of Keenness. Fez can now seamlessly switch between infusing the axe with lightning or radiant energy as a free action, adapting to the needs of battle.
- Celestial Branch Rod for Thirteen: Thirteen receives a Celestial Branch Rod, a +2 focus that harnesses radiant energy. It possesses charges that can be expended to deal maximum radiant damage or to heal. Furthermore, a charge can be spent to convert the damage type of an attack to radiant.
- Divine Insight for D'Wat: D'Wat gains the privilege to ask Rampol one question per day, drawing upon the sun god's vast wisdom for guidance and knowledge.
- Portal Acorn: D'Wat receives an acorn with the power to create a portal to Zernon's Eclipse, serving as a one-time means of traversing to this celestial haven.
- Cap of Mind Killer Resistance for Fez: Fez is bestowed with the Cap of Mind Killer Resistance. Once per day, the cap allows him to break free from charm or domination effects using an action. Additionally, the cap grants him resistance to psychic damage for one minute once per day.
- Radiant Elixir Flask: The Radiant Elixir Flask contains a shimmering liquid distilled from the sap of Zernon's Eclipse. Imbibing the elixir provides temporary hit points (2d10), resistance to radiant and necrotic damage for one minute, and the ability to cast lesser restoration. When thrown, the flask creates a radiant explosion upon impact, dealing 8d6 damage.
- To further honor the sacred bond between Rampol and Zernon's Eclipse, the Pit Patrol receives a sprig of the Tree to cultivate within their shrine.
However, their newfound blessings are soon tested as the Patrollers are thrust into battle once more. The Bayani-Sun Casino becomes a battleground against the Star Spawn, where cosmic forces clash in a fierce encounter. Following this confrontation, the Patrollers venture into the Shadowfell, where they face an evil bronze dragon and a malevolent monk in an ominous showdown.
The journey continues, with the Patrollers now armed with divine gifts and facing challenges that span both the mortal realm and beyond, as they strive to protect the world from the encroaching darkness and unravel the secrets that lie at the heart of their quest.
