The claw talks further with the dragon turtle and the sahuagin. They discover the wymling's name is Skorjira, and he is the son of Dargon Lord Gammoranth who rules the seas and islands. The sahuagin are his honor guard. They appear to have been under the thrall of the sea hag and stole from the wrecked ship under her instructions. She also was the one who enticed him with the treasures inside the lighthouse, but the entire truth seems to be elusive. The sahuagin invoke Clan Law 34 over the ransom of prisoners and offer a bauble to give to Gammoranth in exchange for thier freedom. Nyxek decides that if the lighthouse is full of treasure, then the claw will take its ransom from the spoils within. Oh, searching the body of the sea hag turned up two pieces of contraband: the necklace Ursula made from Ariel's voice in the Little Mermaid and a cracked spyglass that acts like a periscope into the plane of water. Tad took the necklace, Nyxek pocketed the spyglass. The sea hag also wore the uniform of the captain of Endpoint Island kept immaculately clean. They enter the lighthouse which is dim and filled with the corpses of slain soldiers. An investigation brings Nyxek close to some barrels which spring to life as monstrous mimics, heretical devils of the fallacy. The battle is swift, Nyxek distracts two of the abominations with a pile of summoned food, and a larger table mimic tussles with Vutha and Tad. Tad barely escapes the mimics sticky embrace and Vutha declares the whole thing a trap with a threat to kill the sahuagin outside. However, upon slaying the larger mimic, it spills treasure like a split sack, and Nyxek calms his executioner. However, the fact that the mimcs are treasure pinatas dooms the two distracted ones netting Vutha a handfull of gems and Kal an acid resistant dragon glass sword. The claw moved to the second floor to find headless corpses littering an office full of official paperwork. Kal notes the missing heads had grown bat wings and nesting in the rafters until they smell fresh scaled flesh. One of the heads flies down and shrieks, its haunting cry putting Vutha in a fugue state as he hisses , 'Not like this'. The others of the claw are unaffected, but grow concerned as the headless corpses begin to rise as zombies. Nyxek steps forward and speaks a word of the Truth, rebuking the undead. The zombies crumble and two of the varguille flee in divine terror. Kal and Tad unleash their bows, poison, slayer's knowledge and hunter prowess to shoot down other two flying heads before they get close. The claw begins checking the room. The records show a disturbing amount of contraband brought in and subsequently not destroyed especially gold and magic items indicating the garrison here or someone above them had chosen greed over duty. They were also markings and refuse from strange fallacy magic that the claw didn't truly understand. Tad then used magic to hide the claw's presence as they went to the top of the lighthouse. There they saw more abominations stitched from the remains of scale folk. The claw ambushed and destroyed them before they had a chance to react. This floor was the barracks, and Nyxek spotted treasure under one of the beds, but that bed rose up as another mimic. The claw went to action putting it down in practised fashion, but the disgusting lie beast vomited a rain of acid that took out Vutha before Kal and Tad finished it off. Tad stabilised Vutha while Nyxek began a prayer of healing. Upon completion and Vutha's revival, they searched the top floor to find little but the blood splatter upon the beds which seem to have been turned into a combination alchemical testing site and surgical center. It appears strange fallacy alchemy was used to create the stitched horrors the claw put down. There was more treasure under the mimic, notably a few magic items, one of which, a staff of the adder was not from the fallacy and Nyxek secured it. The claw went back outside to confront Skorjira and his honor guard, but they knew nothing about what was inside the lighthouse. Nyxek noted that he recognized one of the corpses inside as that of Endpoint Island's former captain Greenscale whose uniform the hag had stolen. They also questioned the wyrmling about the fact that Tad and Kal deduced the corpses of the slain soldiers had been dead about a month, and no word had reached Redoubt about the fall of the lighthouse. Again, no answers were to be had, but Skorjira mentioned his father would be at the island the next day for his annual inspection, and offered the claw to stay and speak with him. Nyxek agreed and sent up a flair for Redoubt to see the claw would be staying overnight. They put the sahuagin to work helping load the contraband on to the claw's ship, and they took 1700gp for ransom from the non-contrabrand gold they found. Nyxek also ordered Vutha to take a hand from the slain hag and hide one of the stitched corpses to keep proof of everything they had found just in case. The next morning they sailed to an island that had appeared nearby which was the shell of Gammoranth the Dauphin of the Sea. The claw were approached by a formidable guard of high dragonborn one of which announced himself as the Voice of Gammoranth. Nyxek gave the proper supplication and reported the truth of what we found in the lighthouse. The Voice said the situation was regrettable, but announced that they would be siezing all of the contraband for proper disposal. The claw is thanked for saving the Dauphin's son, the amount of ransom was approved, and the voice seems to reach out with his mind to Gamorranth and asks Nyxek if he would accept captaincy of Endpoint Island until a full regiment can be returned to it such that the island is not left abandoned. Nyxek demures that he would accept any direct orders by someone as high ranking as the Dauphin. So, the Voice announced it was official, Nyxek the Resplendent shall be Captain and Seneschal of Endpoint Island until relieved by the mainland. The only thing marring such a glorious moment for Nyxek was his recognition that the bejewelled decoration on the Voice's belt was the same contraband wrench Morale Officer Draxelas had confiscated via order 86 back on Station Desolation only a few nights before.
