On a hit, the target suffers the weapon attack’s normal effects, plus 1d8 thunder damage, and you can cause a thunderous sound that rings from the target to a different creature of your choice that you can see within 5 feet of it. The second creature takes thunder damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.

This Old Bell clapper rings out with a thunderous sound. Its original use can't be parsed, however it has a clear offensive use now.
