Mythos #1

Sweat poured down his face as the crunch of ice and stone echoed throughout the cavern. Or was it blood, it hardly mattered at this point. He gazed sluggishly up and down the moss infested walls, the dim light of the shard tied around his arm being the only respite from the dark ahead. A brief sound- barely noticeable above his own ragged breathing but audible nonetheless: a soft crunch. The crunching grew faster and louder as the moss began to blur from both the speed and the weariness "Not now, not when i'm so close" breath ragged and visible in colds embrace. A second set of crunching echoed behind, slowly yet surely gaining on the first. He risked a look back, yet all that greeted him was that oh so familiar darkness constantly threatening to envelop him, just as it did her. The crunches grew slower as the breaths grew heavier. "No we can't give up, not after all we've done, all we've lost" as a flash of blinding light emanating from the "man" washing over the disfigured blur lurking in the dark, with this power the "man" soon left the blur, feet careful to avoid the icy patches waiting hungrily for a misplaced step as the second set of crunches pass out of earshot. An elated cheer reverberated through the tunnels as a warm, familiar view wrapped around the corner- Light. The "man" rushed past the side, face split into a deep, twisted grin as "he" opened his eyes, and stopped. In front laid a cold, impervious wall of stone and a single object, his lantern from a week ago. The creature dropped to "his" knees and let out a soft wail as a wave of lethargy wrapped it's way around his bones strapping "him" to the floor. The one single sound echoed from behind him. Crunch.
