The Shards are strands of soul from a great deity of old, the name of which has been long lost to time.
We, being the children of him, are naturally bound to these directly, with our souls returning to our mortal forms when a shard is used for such. This leaves our ascended, God forms as you'd call it, vulnerable and killable, however, this is of course not the end, we are God's after all. When the ascended are taken care of, you must hunt our mortal forms, this may be a hard task since we could well be anyone and not even know of our true power until our souls are restored. Upon completion of the hunt, congratulations, for you have felled a God but just make sure you remove them before they reach a shard, lest their original power be restored.
