"Thank you, brother..." those were the last words Arulo Kedrisk spoke to his friend before space started to stretch infinitely, a view he had seen a few times now...but never would it become less of a spectacle. It all stretched far and wide until suddenly it all came rushing back into his pupils, color and form and everything that would be as he stood back in his hometown again. It had been a good few years since he had last seen Drethildan, and even longer for his hometown. Arulo started walking through the town which in a sense made him quite excited, but at the same time, he felt his heart fill with melancholy as he noticed the damage of battle... sludge. He walked and walked until finally, he arrived at his home, door burned through and the interior a mess. He looked through his home for any clues his father might have left him, eventually finding a note stuck into a wall by knife. It was apparent that this was done in haste and his heart started to fill with worry, but the note told him that his father and sister had retreated into the woods. The pirate would not hesitate to turn around and immediately made for his family cabin, this cabin itself was not known by many. It was the product of Arulo's grandfather who build it before he went to sea, but that tale is for another time perhaps.
It took Arulo a good day and a half before finally reaching his grandfather's cabin, as he reached to grab the handle... he felt like he was stopped. doubt started to flood his mind, 'Do I really have to do this? is there no other way... does it end...here...' Arulo took a moment to regain his thoughts before he opened the door with a lump in his throat, swinging open the door he was met with the image of a young woman. So thin you could see her bones through the skin, balding spots on the head, and worst of all...eyes of pure white. Arulo dropped his bag to the floor as his heart broke into a million pieces.
"Father....did you...come back?" The young girl stared through Arulo's being as if he was a specter, not something to be seen by the eyes of the living. "Ally... it's..it's m-" The young woman's face would light up in a smile as she heard the voice of her older brother. "Arulo! oh, I haven't heard your voice for so long! how was your trip?" Arulo would slowly shuffle over and embraced the woman in a soft hug, one that already seemed to pain her quite a bit. "I- I failed Ally... I'm sor-" Before Arulo would even be able to finish his sentence she would be cut short by his sister "thank you for trying Arulo, I'm sure it must have been a long journey." Arulo's face would sadden slightly as he heard that, no matter what pain she went through herself...she still worried about him. The siblings would hug each other for a while until Arulo heard his sister start crying "Arulo... I've waited for so long, I've had so much pain... I've waited so you could release me from this..." At that moment Arulo fought his tears with all he had, after which he answered with a voice that was on the verge of breaking. "mhm, you fought well Ally... dad was right you know, you always were the stronger one out of both of us."
Arulo reached for the gun on his hip and held his sister tight, placing the barrel of the weapon to her head. "Ally... go say hi to mom for me okay? dad won't be long I promise you. Ally... I love you." "I love you too Arulo." After those final words a loud bang would be heard coming from the cabin and after that, a cold silence danced through the night sky. Arulo felt his sister's body fall limp in his arms and felt her warm crimson start to drip down his hands, after a good few minutes the man would lay the body back on the bed as he waited for his father's return. but his father's return did not take long as he rushed back towards the cabin after the gunshot, at his arrival Arulo would already be sitting on a chair with his blade on the table. "Arulo...? is that you my boy?" Arulo would stand and walk over towards his father, staring his father down for a few seconds before embracing him in a hug, something he hadn't done since he became 14 years old. tears started to stream down Arulo's face as he fought with his words. "I- I've made a lot of mistakes father...a lot of em, but now I will try to right one of your wrongs. I'll do something you... should have done long ago." Arulo would reach for his blade and thrust it into the gut of his father, who buckled down from the pain. Arulo supported his father to stand as he kept the hug going one last time. "Care for them will you dad... do something right for once in your goddamn life, promise me you'll take care of them...for I fear that I will not join you three in heaven..." Arulo's request would be met with a soft whimper before his father fell to the ground...devoid of life.
Arulo would light a candle in the cabin, using it to start a fire in the cabin. He sat on his chair and grabbed his gun, spinning it in his hand a few times before biting his lip in frustration. He jumped up which caused the chair to crash into the floor behind him, not knowing whether the entity behind their curse still lived Arulo yelled out. "IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED! HAVE YOU HAD YOUR FUN?! Well, I sure hope you have...for this is the last laugh you'll get out of me...out of us..." Gripping his pistol tighter in his hand he placed the barrel against his skull, growing that trademark smile on his face as he spoke. "Well I'm done playing your games, and I'm ready to repent." And with those words, a final shot would ring out through the forest. Coming from a cabin which no one knew about, burning away the rot that lived inside it...all to be forgotten.
