Age. Dwarves are immortal, in the sense that they will typically not die natural deaths, though they are considered to have reached adulthood at 100, and to be of old age at 500. Alignment. Most dwarves are lawful, believing firmly in the benefits of a well-ordered society. They tend toward good as well, with a strong sense of fair play and a belief that everyone deserves to share in the benefits of a just order. Size. Dwarves stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and average about 150 pounds. Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. Your speed is not reduced by wearing heavy armor. Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Dwarven Resilience. You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage. Dwarven Combat Training. You have proficiency with the battleaxe, handaxe, light hammer, and warhammer. Tool Proficiency. You gain proficiency with the artisan's tools of your choice: smith's tools, brewer's supplies, or mason's tools. Dwarven Resilience. You have advantage on saving throws against poison, and you have resistance against poison damage. Brave Beyond Reason. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened. Gryphon Rider. You gain proficiency with the Animal Handling skill, and have advantage on Wisdom (animal handling) checks made towards gryphons. Gryphon Companion. You form a powerful and magical bond with a baby gryphon, a small and weak, yet loyal animal that aids you along your adventures. Your gryphon obeys your commands as best it can. It rolls for initiative like any other creature, and the DM determine its actions, decisions, attitudes, and so on. If you are incapaciated or absent, your pet acts on its own. Your gryphon shares your alignment and your ideal. Your gryphon's bond is always, "My owner is a beloved companion that I am more than willing to follow and serve." Over time, at your DM's discretion, the baby gryphon will age and grow, reaching later stages of life. If your gryphon is ever slain, the magical bond you share allows you to return it to life. With 8 hours of work and the expenditure of 25 gp worth of rare herbs and fine food, you call forth your gryphon's spirit and perform a ritual to create a new body for it.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common (Trade), and Dverrœna (Dwarvish). Dverrœna is full of hard consonants and guttural sounds, and those characteristics spill over into whatever other language a dwarf might speak.
