Description

Morkul Inson, 36, (The name Inson is a derivitive of the term "Innskeep's son")descends from a long line of inn keeps (9th generation as far as they know, but could have been longer if not due to records being destroyed in the great fire in Castledale during The War of the Good Kings). After the fire in Castledale, the Inson family moved to Windhaven. This is where Meadhouse has been since then. Morkul stands roughly 6' tall with a build of a man that tends to indulge in his own mead regularly, but also one who carries his own kegs up the stairs. His reddish brown beard is well kept, but long covering his neck.  He wears inexpensive clothing with a nice leather apron.    Morkul has always grown up in Inns, so he is very well versed in many customs, races, and histories.  He's not a great story teller himself, but has a very good memory to remember all of the tales he has been told (both true and folklore).  He was married at the age of 13 to a farmer's daughter named Ann.  They had two children:  Rodrick (presently 15) and Ella (presently 13).  Ann died in childbirth with Ella.  The inn will be willed to Rodrick when Morkul passes.     Morkul has two very different sides to him.  When the crowds are present, he is jovial and full of laughter (as he always was before Ann's death).  When he is alone with his children, he is very somber and still mourns Ann (he quietly and secretly resents Ella for her death).  All of his attention is paid to Rodrick and when the inn is not busy, he spends his time actively trying to find a husband for Ella.  She is beautiful like her mother, so he is seeking a wealthy farmer or merchant, not just some run of the mill peasant.

Meadhouse is a two story building. The bottom floor consists of the dining area, a kitchen, a pantry   Main floor: This floor consists of the dining area, a kitchen, a pantry and a storage closet.

  • Dining area: this is a rectangular room with 14 different shaped tables. The ceiling is high, roughly 18'. The bar itself can sit 12 people comfortably 14 if it's tight. An open doorway on the north side of the room leads to the kitchen. 3 of the tables are more private on an elevated level (4 steps up) and in a booth. These booths have a curtain that can be pulled for further privacy. The bar itself is a polished/varnished beauty of a piece. This was the only piece taken from the fires of old. Part of the wood still is singed, but with expert wood working over the years, new wood has been added around it to accentuate the scars. Meadhouse lives up to it's name have 5 different meads on tap (all brewed by Morkul) as well as cheaper ales and cheap wines and liquors.
  • The kitchen is very typical. A large cast iron stove, a 5' by 5' table in the center, several cabinets, and a plethora of barrels. There are two doors on the north side of the kitchen, one leading to the pantry, and the other to a storage closet. On the southwest side of the room, there is a door leading down to the cellar.
  • Cellar: This is a 15' x 15' wine cellar. There is a wooden ladder leading down to it, as well as a small "elevator" to lift some of the heavier items.
  • Top floor: There are 6 rooms on the top floor. The largest of the rooms belongs to Morkul. The other 5 rooms are smaller and of similar set up. One of these rooms is permanently occupied by Morkul's son and daughter. The other 4 are for rent.
