Orcs on Gallaran have a well-earned reputation as merciless marauders and raiders that live in a savage tribal society on the fringes of civilised lands. This was the path that their progenitor, Gruumsh, laid out for them and it was his wish that their bestial fury would bring the other races to their knees. However the ruiner was humbled twice over the course of history, once during the great conflict when he lost his eye and again during the time of troubles. These humiliations have led many orcs to question the wisdom of their race's path and seek new ways to make their way in the world. As a result the orcs are now split between 2 distinct groups; those that cling to the old ways of looting and pillaging, forever dwelling in the wilds as their ancestors did and these orcs are greatly feared in the towns and villages that lack the protection of walls and a strong garrison. Then there are the 'city orcs' as they are often referred, those that left that life behind and tried to overcome the primal savagery that the ruiner placed within their people. Many generations of these orcs living and reproducing amongst the other races of Gallaran have diluted their innate aggression but it still lies deep within, a pit of more bestial nature that some orcs have learned to tap into to make them stronger and more resilient in a fight but such a thing is almost always a battle for control over their impulses. As such many city orcs choose to live where their nature can be put to good use; the frontiers and military forces of whatever nations they call home. There full-blooded orcs are welcome for their size, strength and combat prowess. Age. The life of an orc is a flame that burns bright but briefly.
