"Now why do you think we are less intelligent, hmm? Is it because you think us children? Is it because we love adventure and spending time with our associates? Is it because we love to do what we're told, even if we have to throw in some chaos? Understand, that while those are true - well, the child claim not so much - they are no where near the true defining factors of an honorable Seikagi. Though I cannot explain our deep history and culture in a single sitting, let me just tell you this: If you really do think you're smarter than me, High-Elf, then you have a long ways to go, my friend."- Mochi Goodwill, Elder Druid of the Seikagi council, retorting against Lysander Silvennon, an Elvish scholar.
Born with a stout heart and a brave soul, the Seikagi in all of their forms are a race of small, brave individuals who, when given the chance to shine, may prove to be excellent allies. Despite their small size, their connection to the Earth has given them tremendous power and special traits that make them very unique.   Physical Appearance:   While Seikagi may look different depending on where they are from, all Seikagi have at least a few traits in common. For starters, all Seikagi age very slowly, reaching their teen years at the age of 250. Until that point, almost all Seikagi tend to be very young looking, appearing similar to a younger looking Halfling or Gnome, with feminine or masculine traits still prominent on their bodies. Despite their obvious adult traits, they are still oft mistaken as children, which they take as an insult to their maturity. Additionally, almost all Seikagi tend to be very slim and lean, despite some Seikagi eating well past their body weight in calories. While they may share similarities with Halflings or Gnomes, they do have some noticeable differences. For starters, all Seikagi have two bunny ears on top of their head in place of regular ears, and all Seikagi have a bushy bunny tail around the small of their back. These bunny ears can range form pointy to lopsided, floppy or half-lopped, and some may have small ears, and they are all usually colored white, though there are exceptions to this coloration. In addition, all Seikagi have slightly larger eye structures, and their thighs and calves possess immense strength so that they help with running and jumping great distances. Finally, it should be noted that all Seikagi have slightly larger front teeth than that of the average human, though they are still believed to be omnivores due to the existence of canine teeth.   History:   Like their Lunar counterparts, the Tsukagi, the Seikagi used to be apart of a bigger race known as the Mikoto; pacifistic humanoid being with bunny like features, and creations of the Lady of the Moon, Lady Kaguya. These people could be found all over the world, though a heavy concentration was found in the Eastern Isles. They generally lived peaceful lives, mingling with other races and serving as entertainers, teachers, workers, and traders, to name a few occupations. That all changed one day, however, when a civil war engulfed the Islands. The Mikoto, being pacifistic and refusing to fight, decided to sit out the war and enter hiding. However, while many Mikotos chose to leave to the Moon, many others decided to stay and wait out the war, knowing full well that the combat would soon subside. Eventually, the war did subside, and the pacifistic Mikotos who stayed could once again mingle with the other races. They would pray to the moon, hoping that their fellow Mikoto who fled their would stay safe and eventually return. However, after many eras, the Mikotos who stayed and the Mikotos who left became so different that even if the lunar Mikoto came back, they could never hope to fit in with their Earthen counterparts. Eventually, the Mikotos that stayed began to split up and spread across the world. Wherever they went, they began to adapt to their environment. Seikagi that went to the frozen north developed alabaster, snow like skin and white hair, while those that chose to live in more open plains and fields near human settlements developed similar traits to the humans they lived near. Eventually, these Seikagi became so different that they eventually split up into their own 4 distinct subraces: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Seikagi.   Society:   Seikagi society is hard to pin down due to the vast amount of differences each Seikagi subrace has in their cultures, but there are some universal themes that run within each. In all of them, the worship of the moon is relatively common; a result of the wishing of blessings to their Lunar counterparts. In addition to this, many Seikagi love festivities and parties, and are generally warm and friendly to others. Finally, the most common of the similarities is the appearance of the dessert Mochi. Mochi, for some reason, plays an integral part of Seikagi culture, and is considered a very sacred food. Even the act of making Mochi is considered sacred, and is only given to those who have been selected through a sacred ritual. Aside from the similarities listed above, though, almost all Seikagi cultures are vastly different from eachother.   Seikagi Names:   While many Seikagi communities still uphold their old Mikoto naming conventions of beginning their first names with the letter M, many more Seikagi have adapted to more modern naming conventions, adapting a wider variety of names and even adapting last names, unlike their lunar counterparts. Many Seikagi will take after Human names, and the names will almost always start with the letter M, though their last names do not seem to follow this convention. It should be noted that most Seikagi that work for a master will often times use their master's last name rather than their own.   Male: Masato, Mamoru, Masumi, Miiden, Miiriton, Miles, Matthew, Mikoto   Female: Mochi, Miu, Maki, Mary, Mami, Morgana, Mirai, Maria, Monica, Mikoto   Surname: Roll, Goodwill, Lightfoot, Brightwood, Halflight   General Seikagi Traits:   Ability Score Increase: Either your Strength or Dexterity increases by +2, and one other score of choice increases by +1, depending on the subrace chosen.   Age: Seikagi live to be around 330 years old like their Lunar counterparts. Unlike their Lunar counterparts, however, Seikagi age incredibly slowly, maturing to a teenage body at around 250 years of life, and even then, they still maintain a very youthful body. It's not until they are in their much later years that they actually begin to show more mature characteristics, but many are not old enough for that to be commonplace.   Alignment: Seikagi tend to be all over when it comes to their alignments, as it is heavily dependent on the culture and community they come from.   Size: Seikagi tend to range greatly depending on subtype, though most tend to be relatively small. Your size is small.   Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 ft.   Earthen Strength: Your connection to the planet gives you natural strength to rival that of an above average Human. You do not suffer any penalty for using weapons that have the heavy tag applied to them, and you count as Medium for the sake of carrying capacity and pushing or pulling objects.   Bravery: You have advantage on rolls against being frightened.   Oversensitive Hearing: You gain proficiency in the Perception skill, and double your proficiency with any kind of perception roll that involves hearing.
Spring Seikagi (Harusagi):   Spring Seikagi, otherwise referred to as Harusagi, are the most common Seikagi to be documented, and are most commonly thought about when one thinks of an average Seikagi. Cheerful and hearty, these Seikagi are very kind and nice to others, always willing to give others second chances. They tend to take the most after human civilization, imitating human trading, farming, and other forms of human customs. Their homes are usually built underground or into the sides of hills, and are almost always homely and warm, usually being constructed out of redwood, stone and iron. A big part of Spring Seikagi life is the community, as many Spring Seikagi communities are very welcoming of outsiders, and will almost always treat them as either old family or long lost friends. It has been said that no one has ever left a Spring Seikagi's home feeling unhappy.   Ability Score Increase: You gain a +1 into Charisma.   Appearance: Spring Seikagi tend to have hair that ranges in shades from blonde to brunette, black, orange or white, and their eye colors can range from blue, green, gold or dark grey. Spring Seikagi tend to wear human like clothing. Many Spring Seikagi tend to be average in height, ranging from about 3'11" ft to around 4'5", and their weight tends to be fairly average, usually weighing in at around 30 to 35 lbs.   Alignment: Spring Seikagi tend to be somewhat chaotic in actions, though almost always act with good intentions and a brave heart.   Occupational Training: You gain proficiency in either 2 instruments of your choice or 2 tools of your choice, and you learn 1 language of your choice.   Grip of the Small: Your small appendages allow you to grip most weapons with both hands, allowing for more precise impacts. You gain the Versatile tag in all of the following weapons: Club, Hand axe, Javelin, Light Hammer, Mace, Morning Star, Rapier, Scimitar, Shortswords, and the Warpicks. Your damage dice goes up by one dice when wielding with two hands. (1d6 goes to 1d8, and vice versa.)   Prey Instincts: At 1st level, you can cast the jump spell on yourself once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the Blur spell on yourself once and need to finish a long rest before you can cast it again. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the haste spell on yourself once and need to finish a long rest before you can cast it again. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Summer Seikagi (Natsagi):   The second rarest of the Seikagi subtypes, the Summer Seikagi hail from the desert regions of both the south and the west. Many Summer Seikagi come to the human territories seeking some kind of goal, whether that be assigned to them or out of personal gain, and many often times take up the jobs of mercenaries. Many Summer Seikagi tend to live in big cities to the west, which are made of sandstone and brick. Despite that description sounding rather barbaric, the Summer Seikagien cities are majestic and beautiful, with rich colors everywhere to be found (Imagine a cross between the Arabic cities in Saudi Arabia, the Naples of Italy, and the shrines of Japan), and are truly sights that anyone should see before they die. Additionally, many innovations come from these cities, and many consider Summer Seikagiens to be incredibly smart and cunning. Many Summer Seikagi warriors follow some sort of honor code, as it is customary in their culture to have standards in battle. Despite this, though, most Summer Seikagi tend to have a rather biting sense of humor which usually viciously rips apart the one their making fun of. With this, the Summer Seikagi have often been viewed as meanspirited to other races, commonly using derogatory names to insult them. Especially Elves, who many Summer Seikagi tend to mercilessly rip apart with their insults. Outside of their culture, these jokes tend to be viewed as cruel or mean, though the Natsagi rarely mean anything from their insults. Additionally, some Natsagi carry a thick accent from where they're from, as many Natsagi tend to hold a deep compassion for their culture, which usually shows up as an accent. Nonetheless, if you can withstand a Summer Seikagi's rather hurtful remarks, you will find a skilled ally worthy of being called a friend.   Ability Score Increase: Your gain a +1 into Intelligence.   Appearance: Summer Seikagi tend to have darker skin colors than other Seikagi, with most tending to have light brown or tanned skin, and most have hair colors which range from brunette to black, though white has been known to exist. Additionally, Almost all Summer Seikagi eye colors tend to be gold, and have a tendency to glow. Alongside this, Natsagi are the only subtype of Seikagi to have their ear colors be dependant on their hair color, so a brunette Natsagi would have brown ears, and a black haired Natsagi would have black ears. Summer Seikagi are, on average, taller than the average Seikagi, ranging in around 4'0" ft to 4'8" ft, and tend to be either bulkier or leaner than most Seikagi, ranging in weight from around 33 lbs to 45 lbs. Despite this, though, their size is still small. Another point of interest is that Natsagi tend to have sharper canines than all other Seikagi, as they have a higher tendency to eat meat.   Alignment: Summer Seikagi tend to lean more towards Lawful, as their code of honor puts them more into the camp of law, though some do tend to be chaotic. However, their variations in goals and aspirations can lead them to be mainly neutral in morality.   Natsagi Martial Training: You gain proficiency in two of the following weapons: Club, Hand Axe, Mace, Quarterstaff, Spear, Sickle, Light Hammer, Battle axe, Glaive, Halberd, Pike, Longsword, Trident, Warhammer, and Warpick.   Natsagi Scholar Training: You learn two Wizard cantrips. These cantrips don't count against the spells you currently know.   Swift Step: You do not take any speed penalty from difficult terrain.   Leap: At 1st level, you may cast the Jump spell on yourself, requiring no material components, with an amount of times = to your character level -1 (minimum of 1). You regain all uses of this trait after you finish a short or long rest, and intelligence is your spellcasting modifier for it.
Autumn Seikagi (Akisugi):   The third rarest of the Seikagi subtypes, Autumn Seikagi, or Akisugi as they call themselves, are Seikagi which dwell deep in forests and gorges. These Seikagi are rather calm and soothing in nature, rarely losing their cool and maintaining a mature composure. As such, they tend to come off as older or more wise than other Seikagi, which might be true on some occasions. Akisugi live deep within forests and build their communities in clearings made within the woods. Their villages are very similar to some of the majestic Elven towns, and are almost always in the season of fall. Because of this, the leaves always stay a beautiful redish-orange color, painting the village in shades of red, orange, and yellow. Their houses tend to be made out of birch and oak wood, and are ornately carved and crafted, showing the best care in creation. Though some Akisugi take up jobs as Druids, many more take up other jobs and leave their villages, hoping to spread peace and tranquility throughout the world.   Ability Score Increase: You gain a +1 into Wisdom.   Appearance: Akisugi tend to have hair colors which range in coloration from Orange, Red, Yellow, Green, or Brown. Often times, their hair color tends to have multiple colors in them. For example, an Akisugi may have orange hair with yellow strands scattered within there. Similarly, their eye coloration tends to have the same range of coloration, and they often tend to glow in dark rooms. In terms of skin color, Akisugi tend to have the average human skin tones, albeit having a slight greenish or yellowish tint to their coloration. Akisugi tend to be smaller than Harusagi, ranging from around 3'6" ft to 3'9" ft in height, and they tend to be much lighter than any other Seikagi, coming in at around 25 lbs on average.   Alignment: Most Akisugi tend to be calm and peaceful, rarely getting mad at others. As such, they tend to be good willed in nature, though they tend to be neutral when it comes to achieving these good natured deeds.   Darkvision: Accustomed to the darkness of your forest home, You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You cannot discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Heart of Nature: You gain proficiency in one of the following skills: Nature, Animal Handling, Insight, Medicine, Survival. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against poison.   Nature Born: At 1st level, you learn the Druidcraft and Shape Water cantrips. At 1st level, you gain the Goodberry spell. You may cast this spell twice per long rest.
Winter Seikagi (Fuyusagi):   The last and rarest of the Seikagi subtypes, the Fuyusagi are an odd case in terms of the rest of the Seikagi. Whereas the other Seikagi tend to be rather kind and warm or biting and humorous, the Fuyusagi tend to be none of these. In fact, the Fuyusagi tend to be rather apathetic in all ways imaginable, rarely showing any kind of emotion, though they still feel them. Originating from the cold, perilous North, the Fuyusagi live in a snowy mountainous environment, with pathways and houses built both alongside and within the mountains themselves. Within this seemingly barren snowy hellscape, the Fuyusagi have established a thriving community. Fuyusagi housing tends to be built with ornate patterns and tiled rooftops, and are often painted red as a symbol of good luck and fortune (think of the Japanese temples and their ornate design.) Additionally, several Fuyusagi houses tend to be built into mountains, resembling something similar to the dwarves, although the interior is much more ornate and well kept. Contrary to what one would believe, most Fuyusagi do not wear heavy clothing, as they have a natural immunity to the cold. Rather, many Fuyusagi tend to wear traditional dresses that were common from their old days. Though Fuyusagi still worship their Moon Princess, many more Fuyusagi also believe in Shintoism; an ancient religion from the Eastern Isles that many Mikoto used to practice as a religion. This religion believes that spirits called Kami inhabit every object. Many Fuyusagi become priests of this faith, with some watching over shrines to guard mortal life from any outside spiritual forces. Many Fuyusagi tend not to leave the whipping winds of their northern homes, though some do make the perilous trek down to the mainland where the rest of civilization lies, whether that be for business, pilgrimage, or just a general curiosity. In human or elvish communities, and even other Seikagi communities, Fuyusagi tend to stick out like a sore thumb, as their old style of speech patterns, traditional clothing, thick accents, lack of emotions and quirky mannerisms make them come off as rather peculiar to look at. Despite this, though, a Fuyusagi will still try their best to acclimate to the new life they are living, and may eventually begin to fit in with their new environment, though at least one mark of their old life will still remain. When all is said and done, Fuyusagi are rather impeccable Seikagi, albeit with a few kinks here and there.   Ability Score Increase: Your gain a +1 into Constitution.   Appearance: Almost all Fuyusagi have white hair and either red or blue eyes, and their skin color is that of pure white, alabaster skin, which almost looks like snow. While it is not known why this occurs, it is believed to have been an evolutionary trait. Additionally, Fuyusagi are the smallest of the Seikagi subraces, with the females reaching around 2'11" in height and males reaching around 3''3 in height. Alongside this, the Fuyusagi are almost weightless in weight, coming in at around 19 lbs on average.   Alignment: Most Fuyusagi tend to be neutral in almost all regards, as they generally lack any and all care for what happens outside of their home. However, what side they lean towards is usually dependent on how long they've been outside of their snowy home. For example, a Fuyusagi that just left their home will be rigid and strict in nature, rarely showing a smile, while a Fuyusagi that has stayed in a human community for about a year will be chaotic and thrill seeking, still joyriding on their newfound freedom.   Far Traveler: You gain 35 ft of movement speed.   Frozen Heart: You have resistance to Cold damage, and you can withstand higher altitudes, going above 30,000 ft above sea level. Furthermore, your lightweight nature allows you to easily move through snow and other similar substances. You do not suffer any slowdown from difficult environments.   Knowledge of the Frozen Soul: You have been taught to specialize in a specific skill of your choice. Choose a skill proficiency of your choice.
Magikagi:   Magikagi are an interesting subset of Seikagi, as they technically aren't organically made. Rather, all of the original Magikagi were created through laboratory experiments, being made as weapons of war. Due to the Seikagi's shared natural ability to have innate super strength, acute awareness, fast learning and quick thinking, and were all extremely adaptable, they were the prime choices for obedient, expendable soldiers. As such, the DNA of Seikagi was taken and mutated into the Magikagi: Unfeeling soldiers of war, who primarily use magic to their advantage. However, after their fighting days were over, many Magikagi gained sentience and split off from the military, forming peaceful societies on the outskirts of big cities, and copying the mannerisms of humans and elves. While there were those who found peace in like minded communities, others were not so fortunate, remaining mindless servants and being sent to other countries as slave labor.   Despite their past as soldiers and killers, many Magikagi who are outside of war tend to be rather eccentric, to say the least. They are often extremely curious about the world around them, and will often times over react to minor insults. Those who have adjusted to the new world they find themselves in tend to be rather kind and welcoming, though they may come off as shy and fearful at first introductions.   Ability Score Increase: +2 to intelligence, and +1 to either strength or dexterity.   Appearance: Magikagi appear very similar to normal Harusagi, all but for the fact that they seem to lack saturation in color. Most Magikagi tend to have black hair and glowing, piercing gold eyes, which seem to be colored all the way through and lacking a pupil, though this appearance tends to vary between each Magikagi unit. Aside from any physical oddities, Magikagi function very similarly to normal Seikagi, having a similar diet and living conditions, albeit magically slowed down to enhance proficiency on the field.   Age: Unlike the other Seikagi, the actual life span of a single Magikagi is still unknown. Some live to be around 300 like a standard Seikagi, while others tend to be much, much older, coming in at around 700 to 800 years of age, and still counting. It has been observed that, outside of creation, Magikagi do not age or change in appearance at all in their lives, keeping their same physical appearance up until they eventually expire.   Alignment: Magikagi who have just been freed from obedience tend to be very orderly and straightforward, making them lean towards lawful, while Magikagi who have been free willed for a good while will tend to be more chaotic and down to Earth. Their actual leaning towards good and evil are rather skewed and are different for each Magikagi.   Arcane Connection: Your connection to the arcane gives you a more unique set of powers exclusive to your kind. These include:
  • You can last up to a week without food and water, and only require 4 hours of sleep for your break to be considered a long rest.
  • You gain resistance to Psychic damage.
  • You gain standard darkvision up to 60 ft.
Stalwart Defense: Despite your small size, you are surprisingly sturdy, with bones like steel and skin like iron. When you are wearing no armor, you gain a natural AC of 13.
