Zarians share certain traits to their several years within the Ethereal Plane of the Zarian Reach.     Ability Score Increases. Wisdom increases by 2.   Age. Zarians tend to live for a very long time, their constant absorption of Ea likely being a contributing factor. As such, Zarians tend to live for nearly an entire millennium. The eldest of the race can sometimes even reach 2000 years of age.   Alignment. Zarians, coming from an ethereal plane tend to sway towards true neutral. This is less from selfishness as would be typical, but rather from a perspective of objectivity as they attempt to emulate the “free flow” of creative energy.   Size. Zarians tend to be slightly taller than the average Nabun, but most commonly hold a build comparable to the average Nabun. Your size is medium.   Speed. Your base speed is 30 feet.   Discreet Light. Zarians are constantly emitting a glow from beneath their skin, likely from Ea itself. This glow extends five feet beyond the Zarian. This allows them and others who share a space within five feet of them darkvision. However, Zarians also take disadvantage on stealth checks or hiding actions unless they are wearing a cloack or have concealed their light in some way.   Radiant Nature. Because of their background and existence in the etherial plane, Zarians are resistant to radiant damage, but weak to necrotic damage.   Source Plane Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic can’t put you to sleep or cause aging. Ea Inspiration: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.   Trance. Zarians don’t sleep. Instead they use meditation as a way to restore their inner Ea, remaining semi-concious 4 hours a day. While meditating, a Zarian can dream after a fashion, such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a Nabun would from 8 hours of sleep.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write common and Zarian. You may choose to learn three additional languages.   Subraces. Zarians fall within one of three subraces: Prime Zarian, Light One, and New Form.  

Prime Zarian

Prime Zarians hold the unaltered gene of the Zarian. They have not begun to take on new or evolved traits. Much of Zarian culture and society is led by the Prime Zarians. Additionally, many who were sent to the tangible plane were from among the Prime Zarians as the other two were thought to be difficult for the less evolved to understand.   Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence increases by 1.   Innate Magic. You know one cantrip from the Shaman list of spells. You use wisdom as your casting ability.   Magical Training. You gain proficiency in Arcana and detecting the presence of Magic.   Extra Language. You can speak, read, and write one additional language of your choice.  

Light One

The Light Ones have evolved to further embrace the Ea that flow through them. Their body and presence are almost all Ea to the point that they are just glowing forms hardly recognizable beyond the light. These evolving Zarians tend to stay close to large stream of Ea, observing and basking within it’s light. Their abilities are heightened and their magic is stronger because of this, but they can sometimes seem detached from others.   Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma increases by 1.   Superior Light. You shine a bright light for 30 feet, canceling all darkness effects for that distance. All characters within a 30 foot character radius of you are in bright light and within dim light for an additional 30 feet beyond that.   Innate Magic. You know one cantrip from the Lightworker list of spells. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it.   Blinding Gaze. The brightness of a Light One makes it hard to focus on its form for the average human. Ranged weapon attacks against a Light One are made with disadvantage.  

New Form

There is an evolving group of Zarians, a fairly recent occurrence. This group is beginning to hold an additional view of the universe beyond that of Prime Zarians or Light Ones…Time. There has been a lot of speculation on how time operates, but Zarians have traditionally only been able to operate in one area of time. The New Form Zarians are growing abilities that allow them to see or experience more than one time-line. They’ve also become more comfortable with time magic. This has led to a theory that the source of time comes from a higher level plane and these Zarians are evolving to eventually ascent to that plane in the same way ancient Zarians ascended from the physical plane to the Ea one.   Ability Score Improvement. Your Dexterity Increases by 1.   Quickened Pace. Using Time Magic, you’ve increased your speed. Your base walking speed is now 35 feet.   Innate Magic. You know one-time based cantrip. Wisdom is your casting ability for this.   Foreseen Consequences. Once per long rest, a new form Zarian can look explore the potential impacts of a decision on their timeline. They will receive minimal information of where a certain decision might lead their character within the immediate future.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write common and Zarian. You may choose to learn three additional languages.
