Shadowlings

On the high tops of mountains, in the cities that touch the skies lives a species of small humanoid creatures known as Shadowlings. They are usually very inteligent and take pride in their culture and heritage, they might seem cold at the first but infact they are very careing and kind. Shadowlings are night creatures because their bodies, which are made of dark substance and are very sensitive to sunlight so in the day they don't leave their homes but if they have to they wear long capes that cover them from head to toes. They have the ability to absorb shadows and alter their height and width. Shadowlings lack any arms but they have two big claws that which they can summon at will. They can live up to 700 years which they usually spend in their birth cities and rarely any Shadowlings leave them. They prefer calm livestyles which they think not many outside cities can provide. Appereance:   They are three feet tall, very dark almost black skin sometimes with hint of blue and their hair is the same color as their skin. Their faces are round with two small beads for their eyes. Humans and Elves usually find them very cute, which they are not the happiest for. They dress very plain and mostly in dark colors.   Personalities:   Shadowlings are very clever, calm and calculative, they dont talk much and can sometimes come of as arogant, but in fact they are pretty humble.   Names:   Shadowlings are nonbinary therefore they don't differentiate between female and male names. They have very long names. They use at least two surnames, one from each parrent and a few names usually after someone else in their family, their inicials than form acronyms which they use as nicknames. They have quite a sence of humour about these.   Shadowlings are very proud of their lineage and keep track of their family trees for centuries and if they can take more surnames they will.   Ability Score Increase. Your Inteligence score increases by 2, and your dexterity score increses by 1.   Age. Shadowlings reach maturity in 70 years and can live as long as 700 years.   Size. Shadowlings are around 3 feet tall in theire normal size and weigh about 35 pounds. Your size is Small.   Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Shadow absorption. This is a trait that allows your shadowling to change its size. Your character can grow as tall as 15 feet and wide as 10 feet. To use this abillity your character needs to concentrate.   Shadow claws Two shadow claws that shadowlings use instead of hands. They are cast at will and can go 20 feet from your character moving them is a bonus action. They have plus 2 to any melee attack.   Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Languages. Languages. You can speak, read, write in Common and Shadowling. Shadowling is a language with elvish script. Shadowlings write historical books, political documents, knowlege about magic and nature and even their family trees in common and shadowling is used primarily in their fiction, personal letters, diaries and notes. Shadowlings love their word play and thanks to that a lot of fiction contains jokes that cannot be translated.
