Mysterious Guardians
The Humashi are a mysterious race that live on the asteroids surrounding Khronus and Kraken. They play the part of guardians to the planets they orbit, keeping them safe from unknown threats from the darkness between the stars. They were first created in the Ethereal Plane by the prayers and dreams of creatures wishing for guardians to keep their worlds safe from evil. Now, they are mortal creatures, that step easily in and out of the Ethereal Plane, using it to travel from one asteroid to another where they have settlements to watch carefully for creatures that mean to cause catastrophic tragedies on the surface. They are armored in chitin from Astral Bears, and stand anywhere from 6 to 7 feet tall.
They have pointed ears and long manes of hair, with golden skin. They grow a tail on the back of their heads that they braid, and are allowed to grow it to longer amounts depending on the number of foes they have bested in defense of the creatures below. Some have grown this braid so long it appears as a tail peaking out from their clothing. Humashi have flat faces with bright golden or blue eyes that have adapted to see in the black void of space, and are covered in short golden or white hair. Their mouths are home to pointed teeth and intimidatingly large, thick canines that protrude like tusks. They decorate themselves in dark clothing, with near-black reds and blues as accents.
Monastic Lifestyle
Humashi do not sleep, meditating on the dreams of other creatures instead. They appear in dreams as symbols of comfort, or aid dreamers in conquering nightmares. Most of their free time is spent practicing their combative skills, or helping build their settlements. They hold little desire to do more than they already set themselves to, and an adventurer among them is a rare occurrence. Much of their time working is also spent in meditative thought, or philosophical discussions. They have decided, for the most part, that they do not value life itself, but they treasure the goodness that happened rather than mourn any loss.
The Humashi are otherwise peaceful creatures, though constantly fighting for survival against the creatures of the Ethereal Plane and invaders from beyond, they will not attack a creature that shows no violence unless it is strictly for food and clothing. They ensure nothing of a hunted creature goes to waste, crafting clothes, tents, weapons, and other necessities from anything they can manage. If the creature was a beast, such as the Astral Bear, they thank it for its life and offer its head to the stars by floating it into the void above where the no gravity environment carries it away.
Steadfast Friends
Humashi rarely take friends, unless that friend has shown that they need little or no protection. If someone, including a Humashi, falls in battle from their own carelessness there is nothing mourned. However, they will not let a lack of skill be your downfall. Instead, they will take over the fight if they can, and later show you your shortcomings. Often they will even train with you, pushing you to be better at all times just as they do themselves. They refuse to acknowledge what they are skilled in, instead focusing on what there is to improve. They don't berate themselves, though, or others. Instead, speaking of their shortcomings as a positive by speaking of how they can improve. When a Humashi takes up a cause, one can rest easy knowing it will be taken care of to either total completion, or the death of the Humashi taking action.
Humashi Names
Humashi keep close to their roots, and the forces that created them in the Ethereal Plane. Their names reflect this, bearing either a single important word that speaks a wish behind it, or words for hope in various languages. They have no surnames, as no settlement grows larger than around 16 members, there is no need for more variety among them to distinguish one member from another.
