Creatures from Beyond. Moxaal are sapient centipede-like beings; they crawl on 12 legs and have segmented bodies. They have long head sections with large brain areas, 10 eyes, a large mouth with 3 tongues, a long and flexible abdomen, 4 long head-tendrils for grasping and feeling things, and 3 pairs of useless bug wings. The Moxaal speak and write their own tongue, Moxaalish. Moxaal are extraplanar creatures from a plane known only as "The Hilly Jungle," which is a difficult plane to reach or contact. It is extremely rare to see them because of how difficult it is to reach their plane of existence. Moxaal are magically inclined and often take the role of druid or wizard when given the chance. Lower Class Moxaal take up the art of the blade or the bow, but most Moxaal will prefer the arcane arts before anything else. Slave Labor. Some Moxaal tribes are known to enslave giant bees by drugging them with special pheromones in order to keep them under control. They are used like beasts of burden, pulling carts and plowing fields. The Moxaal also steal honey from the bees for medicinal and culinary purposes, and some particularly large bees are used as mounts. The bees are normally semi-sapient and have the average intelligence of a corvid, but while drugged on pheromones they are basically mindless and cannot think for themselves, forced to obey simple commands. The Moxaal that use them for slave labor will often outfit the bees with pheromone-laden headgear the moment they emerge from their pupal state. These Moxxal tribes that use the bees for slave labor are far more technologically advanced than those that do not, and have discovered iron. Moxxal from these tribes tend towards wizardry or fighter champions. Warriors of Bronze. Many Moxaal found the enslavement of the bees an abhorrent and immoral act, and they shyed away from it. But as a result, they did not have as much of a technological revolution and are still stuck with copper and bronze. These Moxaal are proud warriors and wild mages with a stronger moral compass. They tend to become Totem Barbarians, Druids, Rangers, and Oath of the Ancients Paladins. Many of the Moxaal from these tribes see Iron as a tool of evil since it's used by those that would enslave others. Despite the superior technology of the other tribes, the Bronze Moxaal are much greater in number and rather creative with battle strategies. Their ultimate goal is to free the enslaved bees and then get their help to topple the Empire of Iron, and they have come very close at times to this goal. They are masters of bronze forging, and can make magic items out of it with relative ease. They are also masters of pottery and patrons of theater. Unique Mechanics.
