A beautiful black steel rapier with a sapphire gem embedded as the tip, and a cobalt hilt and a platinum grip   weapon can be used a spellcasting focus +2 to spell attack bonus and +1 to spell DC     When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher using this weapon as a spellcasting focus you gain a number of points equal to the spell's level. When you have points stored, you can gain no more, irrelevant of any spells that you cast. You can consume the points for 1 of 2 special actions with this weapon: Gain a damage bonus to your next melee weapon attack using this weapon. The bonus damage is a number of d4s equal to the number of points stored in the weapon. Gain an attack bonus to your next melee weapon attack using this weapon. The bonus is equal to the number of points stored in the weapon. When using the points stored in the weapon you must use all of them. When you use the attack bonus you can choose to use it after you roll, but before the DM determines any outcomes of the roll.
