Equipment
I'm always polite and respectful. I value kindness as much as I value accountability. I treat people respectfully and seriously, so that they may know that I am being honest with them. When I wish to impart a lesson, I try to do it in a way that is somewhat oblique.
Personality Traits
I am fighting to make Crepence a better place. Just once before I die, I want to serve a righteous ruler. Courage, justice, mercy, generosity, faith, nobility, and hope are the virtues that make a knight a knight. Everyone should be allowed to earn a second chance. I believe that the common folk deserve to have a fighting chance. I cannot ignore a plea for help.
Ideals
My honor is what allows me to hold my head up high in this world. I live to serve my princess. My brother's farmstead is a safe haven- I cannot allow harm to come to it. I've wronged a lot of people in the past, so I feel the need to atone by taking every opportunity I can to be good. I cannot return to Crepence yet- not until I've completed my quest for the princess.
Bonds
I fought in the Great War- the things I have seen and done haunt me to this day. I know how to live for my country and for another person- now I need to learn how to live for myself. As a former commander, I hold myself responsible for those under my command and see their failures as my own. I carry a crippling injury from the war that has damaged my leg and eye- I will never move as swiftly or surely, nor will I see as keenly. For this reason, I must rely on my allies. Though I try not to let it show, I can be a bit of a pessimist with very realistic views of the world's injustices.

Overview & Creation

Fighters learn the basics of all combat styles. Every fighter can swing an axe, fence with a rapier, wield a longsword or a greatsword, use a bow, and even trap foes in a net with some degree of skill. Likewise, a fighter is adept with shields and every form of armor. Beyond that basic degree of familiarity, each fighter specializes in a certain style of combat. Som e concentrate on archery, some on fighting with two weapons at once, and some on augmenting their martial skills with magic. This combination of broad general ability and extensive specialization makes fighters superior combatants on battlefields and in dungeons alike.

Class Features

Fighting Style

You adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. Choose one of the following options: Archery, Defense, Dueling, Great Weapon Fighting, Protection, Two-Weapon Fighting.

Second Wind

You have a limited well of stamina that you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. On your turn, you can use a bonus action to regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.

Action Surge

Starting at 2nd level, you can push yourself beyond your normal limits for a moment. On your turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 17th level, you can use it twice before a rest, but only once on the same turn.

Extra Attack

Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. The number of attacks increases to three when you reach 11th level in this class and to four when you reach 20th level in this class.

Starting Equipment

  • (a) chain mail or (b) leather, longbow, and 20 arrows
  • (a) a martial weapon and a shield or (b) two martial weapons
  • (a) a light crossbow and 20 bolts or (b) two handaxes
  • (a) a dungeoneer’s pack or (b) an explorer’s pack

Subclass Options

Different fighters choose different approaches to perfecting their fighting prowess. The martial archetype you choose to emulate reflects your approach. Choose from Champion, Battle Master, Eldritch Knight, and Arcane Archer (Xan).

Soldier

War has been your life for as long as you care to remember. You trained as a youth, studied the use of weapons and armor, learned basic survival techniques, including how to stay alive on the battlefield. You might have been part of a standing national army or a mercenary company, or perhaps a member of a local militia who rose to prominence during a recent war. When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine which military organization you were a part of, how far through its ranks you progressed, and what kind of experiences you had during your military career. Was it a standing army, a town guard, or a village militia? Or it might have been a noble’s or merchant’s private army, or a mercenary company.
