Lycans or Lycanthropes are Humanoids that have been cured with Lycanthropy, a resiliant and incredibly dificult to remove curse.
The curse takes effect when the Lycan is exposed tho either the direct light of the moon or extreme stress when these contitions are met the lycan is "Turned" as refered to by themselves, when turning a Lycan will assume a hybrid shape of beast and humanoid. While this is not uncommon among druids and magic users the difference is that the transfromation is involentary,is not reversible by the lycan, lasts till the next sunrise and the Lycan Retains almost no mental ability of his own in addition to falling into a rampaging bloodlust. While turned the lycan might kill a close friend or family member without a second thought as they would a hated enemy. Lycans who are discovered are often almost universaly ousted form society for this curse is volitile at best and in other cases Life destroying. Though most people seek isolation in the wilderness in theses situations some have managed to train and somwhat control their Lycan forms although these individuals are exceedingly rare.
A Lycan can have 4 different levels of Control
None:
The Lycan has no control over himself when in the Turned state and is thusly treated as a monster controlled by the GM
Limited:
The Lycan has some control to reatian their beliefs and morals. when turned the Lycan may make a Wisdom or Charisma (wichever is highest) saving throw(DC 15) to retain control of themsleves for 1 minute but must repeat the save when taking damage. While in controll the only action the lycan may take is teh dash action attacking forces them to reroll the save.
Advanced:
The Lycan has managed to contol the beast within and may now use the attack action freely but still must repeat the saving the svaing throw when damaged. the duration of controll increases to 10 minutes.
Mastery:
Having Mastered themselves and the curse A Lycan now can mantain control for the entire duration of the transformation and now must use the Bloodlust feature
Bloodlust :At the start of your turn, if you’ve taken any damage since the beginning of your last turn, you must make a Wisdom saving throw to maintain control. The DC equals 10, or half of the total damage you’ve taken from attacks since your last turn, whichever number is higher. On a failed save, you must move directly towards the nearest creature to you and use the Attack action against that creature. If there is more than one possible target, the DM chooses the target. You then regain control for the remainder of your turn.
