Lore

Aarakocras live among the highest mountain peaks in small tribes that controll hunting territories and share a communal nest. The eldest male serve as leader, assisted by the tribe's shaman.

Age

Aarakocra reach maturity by age 5. Compared to humans, aarakocra don’t usually live longer than 50 years.

Alignment

Most aarakocra are good and rarely choose sides when it comes to law and chaos. Tribal leaders and warriors might be lawful, while explorers and adventurers might tend toward chaotic.

Size

Aarakocra are about 5 feet tall. They have thin, lightweight bodies that weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Flight

Starting at 3rd and 5th level your wings grow stronger. At 3rd level You gain flying speed of 25ft but you also gain Clumsy Flier property. Ending your turn in the air will result in dropping harmelessly onto the ground. At 5th level your flying speed doubles and You lose Clumsy Flier property.   To use this speed, you can’t be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Colonies of Aarakocra showing similarities to different birds of prey live in medium-sized colonies counting anywhere between 12 - 25 individuals, most of those colonies nest in high mountains of Hvarkellig. Ambitious and loyal, they travel above lands seen as far as Lapis Palantine on the east and Brännhjärta on the west. Only a few tribes were seen living their lives in the mountains of Pacatia and most of them took the appearance of nocturnal birds.

Least organized, spending their time in small families counting no more than 6 individuals Aarakocra live in Pakweih, Haelm Pelu, and Tanah-Kami. Tho small in numbers gene mixing promoted by their mating rituals, which encourages looking for a partner as different from yourself as it is only possible, resulted in the highest diversity of species and looks.

Seabirds

Lore

Large colonies of Aarakocra with appearances of seabirds gather on seas and islands of Deia west coast. Those colonies can reach up to 250 individuals and live an itinerant life, taking into consideration large amounts of fish and seaweed needed to sustain their colonies. Each year they gather on Svarteng during winter months to celebrate, meet their friends and even look for mates.
