You gain proficiency in the Survival skill. You also have advantage on saving throws against Exhaustion and Cold Weather Effects.
Cultural Flexibility
While rooted in their traditions, Volenic Humans pride themselves on their ability to adapt. Whether it's in warfare, politics, or magic, they learn quickly and excel in many fields.
You gain proficiency in one additional tool, weapon, or skill of your choice. Additionally, once per long rest, you may add your proficiency bonus to a saving throw you are not proficient in. This must be decided after you have already rolled the dice, but before the DM has informed you of your outcome.

The Severed River that flows through Tir Volen has granted many of its people an affinity for magic. Volenic Humans have a natural sensitivity to the arcane, with many choosing to hone this talent in the Arcane Collegium or the magical circles of their homeland.
You know one cantrip of your choice from the Wizard or Sorcerer spell list. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race). Also, once per long rest, you can cast Detect Magic without using a spell slot.

Volenic Humans are raised with a strong understanding of military tactics and combat strategy. They are quick to analyze a situation and exploit weaknesses in their enemies.
