Manakete (Race)

Manaketes, also referred to as the dragonkin, are a legendary humanoid species recurring throughout the continents of the world, and some even call Chareia their home. Manaketes are a form taken by dragons to conserve their strength and survive in a world which no longer permits their full existence. All Manaketes draw their power from their dragonstones, which they use to temporarily transform back into their dragon bodies, often for combat purposes. Although in some cultures the Manakete race is regarded as legendary and worthy of worship, in others they have a long history of bitter conflict with humanity.
ability score increase: +1 to all stats
age: Young Manaketes grow slowly. They can walk days after birth, but they mature at an extremely slow pace. They reach adulthood at roughly 300 years old, and can live up to 1,500 years. However, only the most secluded, shy or suspicious of the Manaketes live to be this long, with many dying before they reach 900 years.
alignment: Neutral

race features:
  • When not in combat, the player may transform at will into their original draconic form for 4d6 minutes. When transformed, the player's stats and HP are doubled, and their stat modifiers adjust accordingly. When in draconic form, the player's size becomes Huge, and they are capable of flying for as long as they are transformed. If the player is carrying allies on their back and their transformation expires, the allies are sent flying to the ground, where fall damage will apply.

  • Manaketes possess a breath attack, dictated by their elemental ancestry. The damage type of their breath weapon corresponds to their ancestry. For example, a Fire Manakete will breathe flames and deal fire damage, while a Light Manakete will breathe divine energy and deal radiant damage. Manaketes will acquire resistance to the damage type that their breath attack deals. A Manakete's alignment will depend very little on their elemental ancestry, unlike their dragon cousins.

  • The following types of Manakete ancestry are known:
    • Fire (deals fire damage)
    • Ice (deals cold damage)
    • Lightning (deals lightning damage)
    • Water (deals bludgeoning damage)
    • Light (deals radiant damage)
    • Dark (deals necrotic damage)
    • Earth (deals bludgeoning damage)
    • Wind (deals slashing damage)
