Skunk

Branded outcasts by their single white stripe, Skunks often live tough lives in the realm. It's not for a lack of trying to be social, they are just constantly shunned by other animals who are fearful of their defenses. Becasue of this, skunk burrows are given a wide berth when living in society. In their isolation, Skunks have had to become incredibly resourceful and intelligent, they are adept at storing food, and harnessing pieces of Sapien technology. They naturally are great alchemists due to their resistances to poisons and toxins. Never corner a skunk, you'll never make it an enemy twice

Bold White Stripe Skunks are medium sized creatures, standing full grown between 5 and 6 paws high with black furry limbs and a long and very bushy tail that stretches another 5 to 6 paws in length. Skunks are often completeley black with a single large white stripe running from their nose to the end of their tail. Skunk weight varies from 1 pound all the way up to 10 depending on it's lifespan and food availibilty with males being slightly heavier and taller.   Skunks fur is very long and bristly like a brush. Their fur stays the same color year round. Young skunks are born completley black with their stripe coming as they reach maturity around 1 year. Males skunks have longer whiskers and are slightly larger than females, though it is difficult to tell.   Odorous Musk In the wilds, skunks live between 2 to 4 years on average. Though, inside the realm, the oldest living skunk was said to be 9. Skunks spend the first year of their lives very closely with their mother and siblings. Skunks mate during the spring and have one litter per year with anywhere from 1 to 7 pups. In the wild, mothers do not allow the father to aid in raising the child but in the realm, Skunk burrows of 2 to 3 families all help to look after the young. A skunk is considered an adult when it develops its spraying defense and can fend for itself. After that, it will go off on its own to make a new burrow.   Both males and females are capable of spraying and can do it up to 6 times in one day. Males will often spray each other if in competition. Females will often spray males they do not wish to mate with. Skunks are often quiet folk, prefering the company of each other if availible. They are sweet people deep down but can hide that behind a stinky exterior. Skunks enjoy sweet smelling things like flowers and fruits and shiny pieces of Sapien technology. They are natural alchemists and gardeners. They are deep thinkers and brilliant scientists. When a skunk is threatened, be prepared for a sudden spray of acid that will burn your eyes and leave you wretching.
