Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
Natural Armor
Your skin in many places is as hard as metal. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 12 + your Constitution modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
Lightning Resistance
You have resistance to lightning damage.
Auric Gift
You know the Shocking Grasp cantrip. Starting at 3rd level, you can cast the Witch Bolt spell with this trait, without requiring a material component. Starting at 5th level you can also cast the Kinetic Jaunt spell with this trait, without requiring a somatic component. Once you cast Witch Bolt or Kinetic Jaunt with this trait, you can't cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level.
Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells when you cast them with this trait (choose when you select this race).
When chosing this race at character creation, decide what your character was before discovering they were a Gildborn. Your original racial selection will determine the physical build, appearance, and lifespan of your character, but they will lack any of the original racial features.
