Spellknight

Alred crossed his arms as he stared grimly at the tome before him. "Hmm," he hummed to himself. The spellknight shook his head, a look of disgust about him. "Damned fools," he muttered as he drew his blade; it shone bright and blue with arcane energy. His face twisted with hate as he pointed the blade at the evil book before him, lighting afire with a simple cantrip. He turned to the door, his voice low and growl like with anger as he spoke again. "This ends now," he said with venom.
The words echoed gently in the room with each step he took as he strode forward, brandishing his blue bladed sword as he swung the doors open. There, cowering in fear and bound on the ground lay the steward of the city; to Alred, the man was fiendish and inhuman, in spite of his very human fear and cowardice. "Disgusting," he whispered as he raised his sword. His off hand waved in somatic gestures as he chanted Elven phrases over and over again, and the bright light of his sword shone brighter and brighter. Alred shouted the final words of the incantation and brought the blade down in his quarry, smiting him with a fatal blow to the throat; thus is the job of Carian Inquisitor Alred Balren. To hunt the corrupt, the wicked, and the malcontent, wherever it may hide.


Spellknights are a specialty of the Carian Society and fill a niche roll in society. Masters of both blade and sorcery, these arcane swordsmen are the arm of the Carian Society. Each of the three orders, the Inquisitors, the Honor Guard, and the Seekers each fulfill a specific role for the organization, and the world at large. Many spellknights work independently from the Carian Society, only occasionally being given explicit orders.

spellcasting:
As a Spellknight, you have the ability to cast spells in addition to your skills in combat. At level 1, you gain the ability to cast basic spells and cantrips.
 

Cantrips

At 1st level you know 3 cantrips from the Wizard spell list. You learn new cantrips as you level up, as shown on the Spell Knight spellcasting table.

Spellcasting Ability

Intelligence is your Spellcasting ability for your spells. As a Carian Spell Knight, you've spent years practicing not only your blade forms but also your arcane texts for secrets and knowledge.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier
Spell Attack Modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier.

Carian Order

At 1st level you choose which order of knights you hail from.  

Arcane Sense

At 2nd level, your study of the arcane allows you to cast Detect Magic once per long rest without spending a spell slot.  

Ability Score Improvement

At 4th level, you gain an Ability Score Improvement, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th, and 19th level.  

Extra Attack

At 5th level, you can attack twice during a single action, and a third time at 14th level.  

Arcane Dueling

At 10th level when engaged with an enemy spellcaster, your ranged spell attacks have advantage.  

Spelljammer

At 18th Level, you can substitute one of your melee strikes during your extra attacks with a spell, so long as the casting time is One Action. You still get your remaining melee strikes.
