Wood Elves traditionally live in large settlements or clans, building huge, sprawling cities tucked away in the enormous woodlands that cover Eastern Virallia. Many of the larger kingdoms have spread out both upwards and downwards, mirroring the moon elves and daring to go underground- something most elves would consider uncivilized. Because of this wood elves are often looked down upon by High elves and the Istari, even the Ignatum consider them weird. In general, wood elves are the kindest and most down to earth of all the elves, although some clans share the haughty, superiority complex of their cousins. Nowadays the clan system is considered outdated and most places have a wide variety of bloodlines. However remnants of the ancient clans can still be found, when the power in a certain bloodline is particularly strong, clan markings can show up on an elf; these are often lines and patterns that glow when the elf uses magic, similar to fancy tattoos. This phenomenon rare but many wood elves get ceremonial tattoos in honor of their clan heritage. These tattoos don't usually glow but it said that if the elf does some kind of heroic or monumental thing their tattoos can glow as if they were born with them.
Wood elves tend to dress in more natural colours, using lots of greens, browns and greys. Their clothes are made from linen, wool and rinnel, a soft feather like material made only by the wood elves. Rinnel is often used for undergarments and the secret to making it is guarded closely by the wood elves- it is a highly sought after material and one of their main sources of income. They also tend to wear natural jewelry, shaped like leaves and branches, sometimes using actual wood. Flowers are loved by all wood elves and are often incorporated into their clothing designs as patterns
