- Adhesive. The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
- False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.
- Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
- Psychotic Reproduction. If the mimic reduces a target to zero hit points the target dies and 1d4 other mimics spawn from the creature's body in the same round.
- Phasing. The creature's erratic movements and how it continually phases in and out of reality make it difficult to hit, as reflected in its AC. It also has advantage on initiative rolls.
Actions
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit ( 1d020+5 , reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 ( 1d8+3 ) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Tendril. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit ( 1d20+5 ), reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 ( 1d8+3 ) piercing damage plus 4 ( 1d8 ) psychic damage.
Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action, bonus action or reaction to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. It does this automatically when not in the line of sight of any hostile creature. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Reactions
Double Up. If the mimic is attached to a creature and another creature becomes attached to it (for example via a unarmed attack), the mimic may use its reaction to make a pseudopod attack against the second target.
Mimics are capable of imitating nearby objects. It was observed that Mimics use other living organisms as a reproduction medium, killing their prey in the process.
