Ravkin were raised to sentience by Zemiya, the god of earth from a burrowing insect species. They spent their early development creating a massive, stunning underground society with no interference under the rocky expanses of the Crystalline Jungle in the far northwest corner of Ymfang. Living without contact with other races for centuries gave them a special relationship with their god, who taught the most devout the magic of the Crystal. After encountering the Mo'a and then Nykterion on the surface (followed by the other races) more than half of all Ravkin abandoned their underground cities and highways for the surface, most notably by establishing the city of Borren just north of The Endless River among the cliffs and peaks of the Mountains of Night.
Their family structures are built around a single queen, which produces about 200 children per mate with somewhere between 1-3 new queens being born, leaving most of the male and female Ravkin free to pursue their own interests. Only a handful of care-takers are needed to attend to the queens. As a result, Ravkin tend to be very studious, productive, and social.
While a majority of Ravkin are loyal to Zemiya, they have integrated well into the rest of society and as such, many have adopted other gods.
