Human culture is very strict with a caste system. People are born and will die within the same caste. The only exception is if a high-caste and a low-caste decide to marry, then the high-caste will be ostracized and be considered the same caste as their partner.
The castes are, in order:
- Nobility
- Artisans
- Craftsmen
- Farmers
- Unskilled Laborers
- Slaves
Humans are also very strict with gender roles. Men are not expected to cook, clean or care for children and are valued by their strength, bravery and leadership. Women are not expected to manage finances, own businesses or be warriors and were valued by their beauty, generosity and obedience.
Most of the human population are farmers and below, living in large rural communities that are patrilocal and heavily patriarchal, even more so than more urban communities. Women are expected to be subservient to her husband's family until she bore a son for them. It is commonplace that if a woman died during childbirth with no sons, and the child born was a daughter, the child would be killed and buried with the mother.
One of the most significant aspects of human culture is feasting. The food itself is not the focal point, but the gathering of people is. They can be held for a number of reasons: birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, significant purchases, etc. Families, friends, and anyone who hears about it and wants to come are allowed. Drinks are served (usually by the guest's wife and daughters) throughout the entire feast, which could last up to twelve hours. It's considered a faux pas to leave a feast early, or to remain sober through the entire night. Even children as young as 10 are expected to drink harsh liquors during the feasts.
