Loki, was elated at all that happened around him. Victory was in sight, and when he had achieved it, he would finally have what he was due. In his over inflated confidence, Loki became very imperceptive, and didn’t even notice Hel and Fenrir disappear and make their way to one of the Bi-frost gates. Now that the Aesir were weakened and the Jotun distracted, Hel could begin enacting an assault of her own. Fenrir smashed his way through the Jotun guards as Hel snuck past and activated the gate. The guards could not believe their eyes when the looming fire giants began to arrive. In the same way the Jotun slaughtered the Aesir crowd, the Muspelhir slaughtered the remaining guards. Then Hel, Sutr, and Fenrir continued with their plot and performed a ritual that imbued the already unstoppable Fenrir with the incredible power of the Chaos Worldsoul. The rage that had burned inside Fenrir now fueled the energy that surged through his body. His scars became stone, his mouth filled with thick black smoke, and his eyes glowed with a fiery red aura. Fenrir slowly grew larger and larger as his fury only continued to feed his new abilities. He grew so enormous that by the time he was finished, Odin could see the gaping maw, and vengeful eyes from his throne room miles away. With a thundering roar, Fenrir shook the very earth and made it clear that the Aesir’s greatest fears were being realized. Ragnorok had begun.

The Aesir had already pulled out every last stock they had when the fire giants arrived on the front lines. Sutr and his army left a hell-scape in their wake, burning everything they touched. Neither the Jotun or the Aesir stood a chance against the ruthless fire giants. Baldur gathered the last of the Valcare warriors, and charged against Fenrir, who was burning his way through to Yggdrasill. Try as they might, there was nothing they could do to stop him. The power of two Worldsouls gave him abilities like no other, and every wound they inflicted only made him stronger. Fenrir only grew larger as he made his way to finally keep his vow to destroy Odin and everything he loved.

Baldur and his men fought Fenrir the whole way up the great tree, and made their final stand at the center, where the Energy Worldsoul swirled and flashed with great power. There, Odin had donned his armor, and prepared to meet his inevitable end. He reflected upon his life, and the way he had ruled. In the light of certain destruction, he regretted not listening to Heimdall’s mother and the other Venir. He regretted his constant unfaithfulness to both his wife and his children. In his ears rung the proverb of his youth, “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for the length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them on your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and success… and lean not on your own understanding.” Odin had thought himself the most powerful ruler in the history of the cosmos, but fate has a way of bringing justice to those who think themselves above it. Ragnarök was his fault, and he knew it.

Eventually, Fenrir made it to the center of the tree, where he saw his father standing before the Worldsoul. The moment he had waited years for was finally at hand. But Odin would not go down without a fight. He donned his helmet and joined the battle to stop this vicious beast. A battle that would decide the fate of his entire planet. Baldur and Odin fought valiantly, but Fenrir was just too powerful. Fenrir finally managed to land a hit from his massive fist on Odin, rendering him too injured to fight. Baldur watched in horror as his father was lifted into the air and dropped down the great beasts throat with a ravenous gulp. Odin was dead.

Fenrir stopped to savor the moment with a howl of victory, before continuing on with the final piece of Hel’s plan. He had destroyed Odin, and now he would destroy everything Odin loved, starting with his precious Worldsoul. But Baldur, would not allow his father’s death to go unavenged.

Fenrir sank his claws deep into the Worldsoul, ready to rip it in two and wipe out the rest of the planet with it. The swirling energy streams began to scatter in all directions, wrapping around and breaking against Fenrir’s body. A deafening roar echoed across the planet, as the ground shook violently. Buildings toppled, trees fell, and the ground opened to swallow the life above. The entirety of Yggdrasill trembled, and thus, so did everything it was connected to. Ancient forests that protected the mighty roots began to shudder, the seas churned white foam, even the sun itself began to dim, and everyone currently on the planet watched the horrifying spectacle of Fenrir sinking his teeth deep, into the Worldsoul.

The Aesir themselves began to feel their already diminished strength fade with the dying Worldsoul. They were surrounded by their most feared enemies, their beloved king was dead, and now they were watching the source of their entire empire’s might be devoured by a monster of their own making. Most, lost all hope and gave themselves up. But a few found the strength to fight for everything they loved until their dying breath, including Baldur.

Wounded from the long battle, and carrying the weight of watching his father be eaten by his own brother, Baldur mustered the strength to draw his sword and give a battle cry worthy of the Fates. He propelled himself up into the canopy of the tree, then veered straight down, with sword pointed at Fenrir’s brow. With incredible speed and power, Baldur plunged his sword deep into Fenrir’s humongous skull, and straight through to the brain. Fenrir shrieked in pain and fell backwards, snapping his back on the impact with the World tree’s roots.
