While holding this Shield, you gain the following benefits: Keen Gaze: You have advantage of Initiative rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks. Unholy Eye: You are immune to the effects of an Evil Eye, while wielding this shield. You lose this immunity if you are currently Maddened, and instead make all saves against an Evil Eye's effects with disadvantage and it makes all attacks and checks against you with advantage. Unholy Rage: After blocking an attack, if the attack roll total was within 5 of your current AC (15-19 for an AC of 20), make a DC15 Charisma saving throw. On a fail, you are Maddened and must attack anything near you, friend or foe. If there is no major difference between multiple potential targets on your turn, the GM will decide who your attacks target. While Maddened, you cannot make use of Paladin spell slots or other Paladin unique abilities, as your Oath is temporarily broken. You can make this save again at the end of each of your turns, ending the effect on a successful save.

The shield is emblazoned with a decorative eye at it's centre and is indistinguishable from a Sentinel Shield when passive. The wielder is blissfully unaware of it's status as a living creature, moving only when they are Maddened and annihilating all memories related to it when returning to its passive state. The wielder can be convinced the shield is alive, but will immediately forget this information seemingly moments after it is brought to their attention.
