Wondrous Item
Rare (requires attunement by a bard) Requires Attunement
A Czarnian instrument is an exquisite example of its kind, superior to an ordinary instrument in every way. This lute was made by a warden, crafted from a rare luminescent wood found only in the enchanted forests on the island of Czarnia. Its strings are made from silver threads infused with essence of starlight, resonating with an otherworldly shimmer. The body is decorated with Czarnian glyphs and motifs depicting the Wardens in their role as guardians of the warforged.
A creature that attempts to play the instrument without being attuned to it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 2d4 psychic damage.
You can use an action to play the instrument and cast one of its spells. Once the instrument has been used to cast a spell, it can't be used to cast that spell again until the next dawn. The spells use your spellcasting ability and spell save DC.
Any Czarnian instrument can be used to cast the following spells: Shield of Faith, Find Traps, Locate Object, and Clairvoyance.
In addition, the Warden's Lute can be used to cast Dispel Magic, Fabricate, and Polymorph.
The rare materials and construction of an Czarnian instrument amplifies the emotional impact of its music, allowing it to sway the hearts of those who hear it more profoundly. While casting a spell that causes any of its targets to be charmed on a failed saving throw, you can play the instrument, thereby imposing disadvantage on the save. This effect applies only if the spell has a somatic or a material component (see list below).
If you have proficiency with a given musical instrument, you can add your proficiency bonus to any ability checks you make to play music with the instrument. A bard can use a musical instrument as a spellcasting focus. Each type of musical instrument requires a separate proficiency.
Warden Spirit. You can use your action to play the lute and summon the spirit of an ancient Czarnian Warden, casting Summon Celestial without material components or expending a spell slot. Once you've used this feature of the lute, you can't do so again until you complete a long rest.
Echoes of the Past. The lute has 3 charges for this feature. You can expend one charge and use your action to strum the lute, evoking ethereal tones that resonate with the psychometric echoes of past events. By touching an object or standing in a location, you can see and experience fragments of memories and moments imprinted in the physical environment. These memories manifest as brief visual or auditory illusions only visible to you, and grant you advantage on skill checks relating to them for the next 10 minutes.
The lute regains 1d3 expended charges at dawn.
