Also known as Pomegrante, these fruit are believed to have sprung from the blood of Adonis. It was the rule of the Moirai that anyone who consumed food or drink in the underworld had to spend eternity there. Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds while in the Underworld after becoming Hades' wife, so she had to spend six months in the underworld every year.
