Battersea Shield

Armor (Shield)

Common

Large Shield This shield adds 3 to your AC when you have it equiped; when you don't move with this shield equiped you can impose double disadvantage on creatures that make an attack role against you. When you take the dodge on your turn you can give yourself double advantage on Dexterity and Strength saving throws.   Heavy Creatures that are size small or tiny have their speed reduced by 10 ft when wielding this shield; creatures who are not proficient with shields or this shield only recieve a bonus of 2 to their AC. You also have advantage on ability checks and saving throws that would have you move against your will, be greappled or be knocked prone.   Tall Creatures size medium or smaller can attempt to hide behind this shield; doing so imparts the effects of the dodge action and gives them advantage on stealth checks.

Battersea shields are large shields often around 5 feet in height that have been used by the Galaelish people for time immamorium. The shield often takes on an ovular or oblong shape and can be made with either wood with a iron lining and boss or made completely or bronze or iron. They are often decorated with heraldric patterns and colours for wooden shields or intricate designs with Galaelish motifs hammered into metal ones. Battersea shields are a way for Galaelish people to represent themselves and their clan/family/tribe; so those who aren't of Galaelish descent are often met with distain for carring a Battersea shield.
