The Vollmer Industries MP-24 is a pre-cataclysm steel-stamped design that doesn't need much maintenance, but also doesn't have impressive characteristics compared to its successors. The design, thanks to its simplicity, has survived multiple generations and has been reproduced post-cataclysm. It uses a spring-loaded magazine and fires from an open bolt position with a straight blowback action. It uses a pistol cartridge and as such, doesn't shoot very far, but it doesn't have to. A well-maintained MP-24 isn't a rare sight, but you're more likely to find some in disrepair. Being steel, it is heavier than some of the other SMGs out there.
