Can we have a word?

I have spent an ungodly amount of time on public transport, and in most cases hated every single minute of it. There's always a train that has a defect, a homeless person who begs for cigarettes just on your platform, or a rabid sports fan screaming profanities at imaginary listeners somewhere in the bus depot.

What has helped me through days cold enough that breathing hurt and nights hot enough to melt vending machines, were little pocketbooks of varied stories. They needed to be engaging, to draw the mind away from smoking ashtrays, but not distracting enough that you'd miss your connection.

For this reason, I wrote you this collection of short stories, with exactly these parameters: Short but entertaining, engaging but done within a timely manner.

Please enjoy each one of them.
May you never have forgotten your purse at home when the conductor asks for the tickets, and always find a cheeky spot to sit in an overfilled train.
