Our story begins like many others. A young trainer leaves their hometown with a brand new Pokemon ready to start their journey into the Pokemon world. However, a brisk wind picks up around as the sky begins to darken. A swirling vortex opens behind them and shatters space as a strange otherworldly flute melody is heard echoing around them. The trees start shaking violently and various Pokemon run in the opposite direction, however, the trainer is unable to keep their footing as they are sucked into the vortex. Just as this happens the swirling vortex closes with a satisfying pop.
Our trainer finds themselves floating in an infinite void. Far away from them countless amounts of what seem to be stars float. However, it doesn't take long for them to spot something approaching an almost blinding white blur rockets toward them. Standing gallantly in front of the trainer is none other than Arceus. An incomprehensible screech fills the trainer's ears. As this otherworldly noise nearly deafens the trainer flashes fill the trainer's head. Almost as if being told a story. Arceus itself has given you a mission. One to save a lost world, one in which Pokemon and humans are separated by the evil deeds of different groups that seek to use Pokemon for their own nefarious purposes. You recognize each of these groups, you have heard stories, seen new articles, and even played games about the defeat of these different groups at the hands of powerful trainers. Perhaps these trainers were even the motivation for you wanting to become a trainer yourself. But you see as each of these heroes are defeated at the hands of the evil teams.
As these swirling images fill your head you begin to form coherent thoughts. This world you must save has been in turmoil for fifteen years. It all dates back to the Kanto region, this universe like many others was heading in the right direction when a young trainer by the name of Red had left his home of Pallet town. This story has been told millions of times but this one was different. Everything fell apart, Red failed to stop Team Rocket from taking the fossils at Mt. Moon. He failed to save Mr. Fuji, and Team Rocket took Mr. Fuji out of the Pokemon Tower and down to Cinnabar Island, luckily dropping the Pokemon Flute along the way so Red could head to Silph Co. in Saffron City. Here Red faced off against Giovani the leader of Team Rocket and failed to defeat him. It is here Giovani and Team Rocket's plans really take off, having gained the Master Ball and the means for producing them. Silph Co. is also the main producer of many types of Poke Balls and healing items putting these all in the hands of Team Rocket. As well as now controlling the conglomerate Silph Co., Team Rocket used the power of the Master Ball and the knowledge of the captured Mr. Fuji to locate Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave and capture it. With the power of Mewtwo and his Pokemon team, Giovani became the Champion of the Kanto region as well used the power behind Team Rocket and Silph Co. to take control of the whole of the Kanto region as well as the Sevii Islands.
It was around this time across the ocean that two young trainers left their homes in Littleroot Town Brendan and May. Seeing the potential of control of the region Giovani shortly after taking control of the Kanto region got in contact with the leaders of Team Aqua and Team Magma, Archie, and Maxie. He bargained an agreement between the two splitting the Hoenn region in two allowing for each to do with what they want their section of Hoenn. With the lack of fighting between the two, they each got their Orbs the Red and Blue Orbs independently. They each awaken the Primal versions of Kyogre and Groudon, and in using Master Balls provided by Giovani capture these legendaries. Both Brendan and May are swiftly defeated by the combined efforts of Magma and Aqua. With the awakening of these two powerful legends, Rayquaza appears to cause these ancient Pokemon to return to their slumber. Giovani however intervines in the attempt and captures Rayquaza in a Master Ball. Each Team uses their legendary Pokemon to shape their half of Hoenn to their liking but gives profit and Pokemon to Giovani in fear of having their power taken away. Especially given the crashing of the Meteoroid into the Hoenn region causing massive damage and placing the control of the Hoenn region directly into Archie's and Maxie's hands, and by extension into Giovani's. All is not so simple in Hoenn however as conflict continues to this day between Team Magma and Team Aqua.
Three years have passed since then. Ethan and Lyra leave New Bark Town. Due to not being abandoned by his father three years ago, Silver is very loyal to his father and by extension Team Rocket. The early phases of Ethan and Lyra's journey are quite similar however rather than failing at the Slowpoke Well and Lake of Rage. They defeat Ethan and Lyra at both locations as well as take Lance hostage after he attempts to get revenge on them and stop their spread into the Johto Region. The final failure comes when the Team Rocket attempts to use Goldenrod City to have easy contact with Giovani as well as to have easy transport between Kanto and Johto. Here Giovanni along with a large force of Team Rocket crosses into the Johto region, Silver defeats Ethan and Lyra and is left in control of Johto with Executives Archer, Petrel, and Ariana under him. It is around this a small operation of Team Rocket travels to Unova to see how they can establish control there. Now with three regions effectively under Team Rockets' control, Giovanni sets his eyes to the other regions of the world.
It is around this same town that Lucas, Dawn, and Barry leave Twinleaf Town. Under the authority they believed deserved them Team Galactic sets their plans in motion. They successfully capture all three lake guardians and keep them stored in the creation and duplication of the red chain. This is done with the aid of Team Rocket as Giovanni helps in the creation of this device with his powerful scientist, he does this under the guise of friendship though he slips in a failsafe to limit the power of the Creation Duo to only be able to effect Sinnoh. It is at Team Galactic HQ that Lucus and Dawn are defeated. With this Cyrus travels to the Spear Pillar, Lucus, Dawn, and Barry chase after him and are stopped by Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter. Since no Guardians are present to unbalance the two Pokemon of Creation Dialga and Palkia, Giratinia does not intervene. Cyrus captures both Dialga and Palkia using Master Balls and the Red Chains. He uses the combined power of the two to completely reshape Sinnoh and remove all Spirit. However, the medialing of Team Rocket stops this from spreading across the world. Today Sinnoh is completely under the control of Cyrus and Team Galactic and there is mutual cooperation between Giovanni and Cyrus since otherwise war is the only option. With the Lake Guardians still trapped by Team Galactic Sinnoh and her people are without emotion, knowledge, or willpower forever trapped under the platinum boot of Cyrus.
Three Years Passed since then as Hilbert and Hilda left Nuvema Town with Cheren and Bianca.
Two Years Passed since Team Plasma took over Unova as Nate and Rosa attempted to rise up in resistance to Team Plasma and were stopped.
Around this same time, Calem and Serena along with Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor left Vaniville Town.
You recognize each of these groups, you have heard stories, seen new articles, and even played games about the defeat of these different groups at the hands of powerful trainers. Perhaps these trainers were even the motivation for you wanting to become a trainer yourself. But you see as each of these heroes are defeated at the hands of the evil teams. Arceus has given you a quest, you must save this world and put an end to each of the evil teams that hold it hostage. With a final message to seek the Resistance.
Once more you hear that strange flute melody as you see the infinite void around you become framed in a light blue sky and solid ground. Falling flat on the ground you find yourself in an unfamiliar location. Arceus disappears in a pop as the vortex closes in front of you, you are once more alone with your Pokemon.
