The young woman sat on her barstool swinging her legs happily back and forth. A dim ceiling light illuminated the pub at the edge of Skimbell. The sun had set only minutes before the woman entered the pub.
"What are you so happy about?"
The old, one eyed barkeeper stood on the other side of the counter in front of the young woman. She looked at at the young woman calmly while cleaning a glass with some cloth.
“I was looking for a madman and I may have found him,” the woman replied.
"Huh." The barkeeper put the cleaned glass in front of the woman.
"You wanna drink something?"
"Water, please."
In one smooth motion the young woman turned around on her stool, stood up and started walking towards the front door.
"I will be right back."
The barkeeper had seen many weird things in her life and she had a hunch that she will be seeing something new tonight. The young woman approached the door with slow, melodic steps. Meanwhile the barkeeper walked towards a side of the counter and grabbed a long knife. The woman reached the other side of the room, smoothed out her brown robe and looked at the upper part of the entrance door.
Neither the barkeeper nor the young woman moved.
Then the door opened.
A lean man with cold, empty eyes entered the doorway. The young woman was looking exactly at his head. The man looked down at the woman and opened his mouth. The barkeep did not hear a word but his eyes filled with a very vivid fear.
The walls creaked.
The man stumbled backwards and slammed the door behind him.
Visibly satisfied the young woman turned around, walked back to her barstool, sat down and started swinging her legs back and forth again.
A wide toothy grin was on her face.
The barkeeper stared at her.
“My water, please,” the young woman repeated cheerfully.
The knife fell to the floor. Not because the barkeeper did not know how to use a knife. She knew knives, bats, guns and even explosives. She also knew that nothing would help her as she stared into the gaping abyss between the womans giant teeth.
