The First Children

During a time when Thana'Tomos came to be, he took a moment to head down from the Heavens to see the work of his children. He was in awe to see the great vast expanse of the material filled with light and life, land and seas, rivers and plains. Thana'Tomos saw all of this and saw that it was good. He then saw the first shapes filled with life and essence and took a moment to name them all. The beasts of the lands, seas and even the skies were all given name and purpose, Thana'Tomos did all of this, but still, something worried him. The beasts were shaped from the Material, they were doomed to one day perish. Each beast had but a small amount of Aether within them, not enough to mark any significant form of life. It was not this alone that bothered him, but the fact that so much life and essence could go to waste before being properly used.

And so Thana'Tomos called down his lover, his children and their shepherds to devise a plan, saying,

"We must not waste of this precious life and essence that roams the Material. Though we ourselves may take from them to nourish ourselves, they become plenty once more. They live very short lives as they are made of the Material and cannot properly return to the Astral. We waste precious nourishment, and it will soon become too much for this firm shape to bare."

To this, Aes'Thera responded. "Then we should make new shapes that may consume of the Material's nourishments."

Eris'Neas agreed and said, "We shall make new shapes that may help cultivate, reap and sow the fields, thin the beasts."

Meridi'Anna agreed and said, "We shall make new shapes that may sail the seas and thin the beasts, shape the paths of the rivers and cowl the life."

Cor'Neas was insulted by this idea and said, "Why undo our great work by creating tools to kill and destroy the denizens of our domains? I shall make shapes that guard the wild areas, so that these shapes do not over consume or lay waste to our great work, accept this, and I shall agree."

Stell'Arya helped her son by adding, "I shall tether the movement of the stars to the cycles of growth and death throughout the land and seas, that these new shapes know when to reap and sow, when to breed and slaughter, when to wander and stay."

To this, the others agreed, all but Thana'Tomos, who was wise with the ages of time immemorial. He spoke, and said, "Though you make great proclamations, we cannot use all the Aether of the primordial to create these new shapes, for it will bring unbalance to the Astral."

Brilliant Aes'Thera came up with a solution, and said, "Then we shall weave them from Aether of both the Astral and Material, small and limited, yet powerful and of our own essence so that they may eat the nourishments of Lumis."

Both Solis'Rei and Nissa'Lune agreed to with this, and each offered a part of their own essence to create these new shapes. The beings were all in agreement, and the two siblings went to work.

Nissa'Lune was the first to make her shape, and said, "I shall make it in my image, it shall bare within it the essence giving waters, I shall be its shepherd and mother, the first of this new shape unlike any other."

The shape spoke and said, "I am the one called Nissa, first of my kind, and I bear within me the essence-giving waters."

Solis'Rei was the second to make his shape, and said, "I shall make it in my image, it shall bare within it the life-giving seeds, I shall be its shepherd and father, the first of this new shape unlike any other."

The shape spoke and said, "I am the one called Solis, first of my kind, and I bear within me the life-giving seeds."

Stell'Arya marked each of the creations in the movement of the stars, and so they were bound to the will of the stars. She looked upon the two and said, "Though you are two, you are made of the Astral. Remember this, for though you may bear water and seeds, in the end of it all, you are still Aether, fluid and without end. You contain our multitudes; you are as limitless as the stars you are now bound to."

Thana'Tomos spoke and said on to them, "become plenty and spread across the expanse known as Lumis. Yours is the duty to harvest and make use of the nourishment of this land, learn to use all and waste not."

Aes'Thera gave the new shapes a gift, and said, "I offer you my curiosity, a dangerous gift, that you may learn how to harness wisdom and knowledge, you are bound to the stars, the weave is ever within your grasp."

The first children were then taken under the shepherding of Eris'Neas and Meridi'Anna.
