Aenica
Aenica is the largest and most populated continent on Etrea, home to over one billion people and stretching from the polar north to south past the equator.
Caia
Caia, also known as 'the fractured lands' or 'the shattered continent', is the second largest continent on Etrea. It is believed to have been broken apart by a meteor impact and devastating earthquakes.
Oyekos
Once a rich tapestry of countries and cultures, the southern continent of Oyekos has been mostly swallowed up by the expanding Hutsai Empire.
Sarsand
Sarsand is the largest continent in the southern hemisphere of Etrea, with a population of around a hundred million people. Prehistoric standing stones remain scattered across the landscape, monuments to forgotten gods.
The Barren
The Barren is a continent to the extreme south of Etrea. It is a place of mostly bare rock and ice, and in the winter months is devoid of sunlight for twenty-three hours a day.
The Frozen North
The Frozen North officially has the least land of any continent on Etrea, though by looks alone it is often considered one of the largest. It is located to the extreme north of the planet, and is characterised by frigid temperatures.
The Jasperic Isles
An archipelago with over two hundred individual islands, the Jasperic Isles are considered to be their own continent by the majority of Etrea.
Viretia
In terms of population size, Viretia is rather small compared to most other continents on Etrea, with only around ten million people calling it home. It has been isolated from the rest of the world for much of its history.
Abror
Abror is a hot, equatorial country on the continent of Aenica, covered in desert, savanna, and rainforest.
Coranir
Coranir is a country in the north of Aenica, ruled by three kings known as the Trinity. It is primarily tundra and boreal forest, though also has temperate rainforest and deciduous woodland.
Escilar
Escilar is the northernmost country on the continent of Aenica. It borders the Black Sea, which remains frozen for much of the year, and is made up mostly of icy tundra and thick boreal forests.
The Esclites
The Esclites are the main human ethnicity of Escilar, a cold northern country on the continent of Aenica.
Ethis
Ethis is the third largest country in the continent of Aenica, though it has one of the smallest populations. Nearly two thirds of the country is dominated by the Burning Flats, one of the harshest deserts in Etrea.
Helvia
Helvia is a mountainous tropical country in the east of the continent of Aenica. Over three quarters of the country is covered by the gigantic Helvian Rainforest, the largest rainforest on Etrea.
Ibatrene
Ibatrene is the largest country on the continent of Aenica. Its western border is defined by the mountains of the Great Northern Spine, whilst its northern border lies along the Black Sea.
Lisil
Lisil is a relatively small country on the continent of Aenica, a narrow land joining Ethis to Tiresar. It is ruled by merchant kings known as argents.
Nor
Nor is a medium sized country located in the east of the continent of Aenica. The southern part of the country has the dubious honour of being the wettest place on Etrea.
Scarda
Scarda is a large country located in western Aenica. It is ruled by a miltary government, despite the continent of Aenica having officially been at peace for the last two hundred years.
Tiresar
Tiresar is one of the larger countries on the continent of Aenica, and boasts a diverse number of grasslands ecosystems. It is ruled by an elected central government, with representatives from twelve semi-autonomous regions.
Teht Krekahw
Teht Krekahw is a city state on the continent of Aenica, built into the side of the Great Northern Spine and home to avian shapeshifters.
The Ibrish
The Ibrish are the human majority living in Ibatrene, the largest country on the continent of Aenica.
Farlbrek
Farlbrek is the northernmost Ibrish settlement in the country of Ibatrene. It is located on the coast of the Black Sea, and is about five miles north of the edge of the Snaplige forest.
Farlbrek Kyrk
Farlbrek Kyrk is a kyrk in the Ibrish settlement of Farlbrek, one of only two buildings completely constructed out of stone. It serves as a centre of worship for the village.
Farlbrek Gyrhald
The gyrhald is a community space, used for meetings, food, and revelry. It is the oldest building in Farlbrek.
Lys's Canal
Lys's Canal, located in the country of Lisil, extends for over a hundred miles, connecting two oceans.
Kekker's Tunnels
The Kekker's Tunnels are a network of tunnels connecting the shapeshifter city state of Teht Krekahw to the foot of Mount Ebresh.
Athevinel
Known as the city of bridges, Athevinel is the capital city of Tiresar and home to around six hundred thousand people.
The Tiresians
These are a mixed and complex folk who most often claim Tiresian as their secondary identity, due to twelve regions joining together into one country only four hundred years ago.
The Runavine Dam
The Runavine Dam was built across the Wash in the Runav region of Tiresar between 5322 and 5327 EA, taking nearly five full years to complete.
The Fish Mother
The Fish Mother is one of the ancient deities worshipped in Tiresar. She is depicted as a heavyset woman with the head of a carp, holding up a net in her left hand.
Esoria
Escoria is one of the twelve semi-autonomous regions that make up the country of Tiresar. Escoria is located to the southwest of the country and contains Tiresar's capital city of Athevinel.
Runav
Runav is one of the twelve semi-autonomous regions of Tiresar, located to the west of the country.
Temple of the Fish Mother
The temple of the Fish Mother lies in the oldest district of Athevinel, a squat square building on the banks of the Gambeli's estuary.
Achia
Achia is a large island country in the north of the shattered continent of Caia. It is a land of harsh polar tundra and thick boreal forests, with rough and rocky coastlines.
Akara
Akara is one of the largest countries in the continent of Caia. Around half of the country is taken up by the Great Plains, an expansive mixture of grasslands and rivers, with several small pockets of forests.
Antari
Antari is a small island to the south of the country of Ilwyrika, part of the continent of Caia. The land itself is considered sacred to the Antarish people.
The Antarish
The Antarish are the human inhabitants of the island of Antari in northern Caia. They are a population of about four hundred people, ruled by a council of elders.
Bazuur
Bazuur is a large country in the south of the continent of Caia. It is the only country in Caia to cross the equator, and is subject to some of the highest temperatures on Etrea.
Caillah
Caillah is a country on the continent of Caia, north of the mountain range known as the Teeth. Its southern border is the mountains themselves, whilst its western border is the Serpent.
Daren
Daren is an island in the northern half of the continent of Caia. It is completely isolated from the outside world by a huge wall that was built along the coastline.
Erias
Despite being an island, Erias is one of the largest countries on the continent of Caia. It is the centre of a slowly dying empire.
The Shiran
The Shiran, also known as the Veins, are a network of roads that extends throughout much of the country of Bazuur.
Wayfinding Obelisks
The wayfinding obelisks are a set of tall, thin towers of solid granite that can be found throughout the Izuuri Desert in Bazuur, placed to help people navigate the shifting sands.
Gabria
Gabria is a small village in southern Caillah, nestled in the green and arable hills of the Downlands.
Seros
Seros is a small town of about four hundred people in the country of Caillah, located at the western border of the Downlands. Despite the town's small size, it has one of the most prestigious tailor's shops in Caillah.
Tur and Sons
Tur and Sons is one of the most sought after tailor shops in The Downlands of Caillah, despite its location in the rather small and obscure town of Seros.
Mochin
Mochin is a large town on the banks of the Serpent, the river that defines the border between Caillah and Serukis. Though it is on the Caillish side of the border, plenty of Seruic people call the town their home.
Kem's Tailors
Kem's Tailors is one of the most prestigious tailor's shops in southern Caillah, patronised often by nobility.
The Gates of Daren
Set into the Wall of Daren are four large gates, locked by some magical or mechanical means. No one has been able to open them in over five millennia.
Eshua
Eshua is a rocky country in the west of the continent of Caia, full of hills, lakes, and forests.
Meridan
The city of Meridan is a busy port on the northeastern coast of Eshua. It is the last large harbour before ships have to tackle the Circle, an expansive stretch of unfathomably deep ocean.
Meridan Harbour
The harbour of the city of Meridan is relatively large due to its status of being an essential stop if travelling along the northern coast of mainland Caia.
Genarion's Wall
Genarion's Wall stands around the Eshuan city of Meridan. It is the newest of the city's walls, having been built around one hundred years ago when the city needed to expand.
Monterre
The town of Monterre in Eshua is built at the site of an old limestone quarry, dug into the side of a mountain on the southern edge of the Teeth.
Prenny Mine
Despite being only about one hundred years old, the Prenny Mine is the oldest coal mine in Eshua.
Prenny
Prenny is a small mining town in northern Eshua, which grew around the Prenny Mine.
Esteos
Esteos is a large island nation to the east side of the continent of Caia. The dominant sapient species that make their home here are shapeshifters.
Kesterhal
Kesterhal is the capital city of the island nation of Esteos. With a population of forty thousand, it is in the top ten largest cities on the whole of the continent of Caia.
Eusakai
Eusakai is a small island in the north of the continent of Caia, located in the middle of the Ilwyrikan Sea. It is an important breeding ground for a number of birds throughout the year.
Ka'a
Ka'a is the only settlement in the country of Eusakai, its name coming from the Ilwyrikan word for 'protection'. Its population tends to wax and wane throughout the year, with many individuals choosing to travel to Ilwyrika for the harshest winter months
Ka'a Leke
The leke in the settlement of Ka'a on Eusakai is the only permanent building on the island.
Iktani
Iktani is a small island in the Ilwyrikan Sea to the north of the continent of Caia, home to a tribal society of dragons.
The Iktine
The Iktine are the group of dragons native to the island of Iktani, a small nation in the north of the continent of Caia. They are a tribal people, split into seven tribes with their own traditions.
Ilwyrika
Ilwyrika is the largest country on the continent of Caia, a separate landmass that also contains Caia's northernmost point. It is covered with an almost permanent layer of ice and frost, with only parts of the south thawing during the summer months.
Vi'ona
Vi'ona is the capital city of Ilwyrika, located on the southern coast. It was founded over a thousand years ago, when the people now known as the Ilwyrikans landed on the shore from the south.
Kaien
Kaien is a large country in the south of the continent of Caia, its north bordered by the intimidating mountain range of the Teeth. It is the centre of a waning empire.
Everhold
The fortress of Everhold stands on the Kaienese border, keeping out undesirables who have dared to cross the mountains of the Teeth.
Stillcross
Stillcross is a small mountain town in northern Kaien, which serves as a home base for those Kaienese who serve at the fortress of Everhold.
Crescent Stone Arcanum
Crescent Stone Arcanum is located on the outskirts of the city of Whitmere in eastern Kaien. It is dedicated to the teaching and research of knowledge related to plants and fungi.
Marble Downs Arcanum
Marble Downs Arcanum is located in the city of Fairpoint in western Kaien. Like many arcana, it is multidisciplinary, with departments specialising in mathematics, astronomy, and law.
Fairpoint
Fairpoint is a medium-sized city in located in the northwest of Kaien, with a population of around ten thousand people. Originally built in the valley between two hills, it has grown and spread out to now cover five hills.
Lordspire
Lordspire, also known as the imperial city, is the capital city of Kaien, and the largest city on the continent of Caia.
Twinbridge
Twinbridge is a small village in the north of Kaien, nestled in the foothills of the Teeth next to the source of the River Gloaming.
Whitmere
Whitmere is a settlement in the east of Kaien with a population of around three thousand people. It is located alongside the River Gloaming, about a mile from the Gravelands.
The Ram's Head
The Ram's Head tavern is the oldest building in the town of Stillcross.
Throat's Respite
The tavern known as Throat's Respite was built by the side of the road leading up to Everhold, about half a mile from the fortress itself.
The Imperial Observatory
The Imperial Observatory is located in the city Lordspire, created to study the night sky and the movement of the stars.
The Arcanum of Linguistics
The Arcanum of Linguistics is one of the nine arcana in the capital city of Kaien. Though it is one of the smaller arcana, it is no less prestigious.
The Royal Arcanum
The Royal Arcanum is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious arcana out of the nine that exist in the city of Lordspire.
The White Palace
The White Palace is the home of the imperial family of Kaien, and is located in the city of Lordspire.
Penra
The island of Penra is located in the continent of Caia, in the waters known as the Stretch that lie between the countries Serukis and Erias.
Serukis
Serukis is a country on the continent of Caia, a relatively large land to the north of the Teeth. Along its coastline are more than a hundred islands in a stretch of ocean known as the Grey Waters.
Ash River
Ash River is a town in southern Serukis, located on the banks of the Smoke, one of the larger tributaries of the Serpent river.
Alderbrook
Alderbrook is a rural village in eastern Serukis, with a population of around one hundred people.
The Bear's Head
he Bear's Head is the tavern in the town of Bear's Crest, a town in the south of Serukis. It is decorated with mostly hunting paraphenalia taken from the old hunting lodge, with the main attraction being a wall covered in bear heads.
Crest Mine
Crest Mine is a sapphire mine just outside the town of Bear's Crest in Serukis. It is located in the side of Mount Evershear.
Saltmire
Saltmire is a tiny island off the northwest coast of Serukis. It ostensibly falls under the juridisction of Serukis but, in practice, the mainland hardly ever involves itself in the island's affairs.
Solitude
Solitude is a small island in the Grey Waters, off the northern coast of Serukis. Whilst it is technically owned by Serukis, it is actually a place with little to no oversight.
Fisher's Bay
Fisher's Bay is a small fishing village on the island of Saltmire off the northern coast of Serukis.
Butterfly Hall
Butterfly Hall was the residence of historical serial killer, Lady Alora Sybrant. In 4593 EA, a year after Alora's crimes were discovered, the house was burned down by Sybrant men. Only ruins remain.
Broadgate
Broadgate is a city on the coast of western Serukis, about a two day's ride from the capital city of King's Rock. It is the seat of the Vasey family, who hold the title of Lord.
Broadgate Castle
Broadgate Castle is a square stone keep in the centre of the city of Broadgate, and is home to the Vasey family who lead it.
The Orchard Temple
The temple of Faolan, the Lord of Earth, is the largest of the five temples in the city of Broadgate. It has earned the nickname 'the orchard' due to the number of apple trees in the temple garden.
The Reed Orchard
The Reed Orchard and its attached brewery are located on the outskirts of Broadgate, about a mile from the edge of the outer city. It is one of the oldest orchards in Serukis, having existed in one form or another for over eight hundred years.
Ebonvale
The city of Ebonvale is the one of the largest cities in Serukis, and is the seat of the High Lord Sybrant. It is located a few days' west of the Serpent, the river that forms the border between Serukis and its neighbour Caillah.
The Needle
The Needle sits at the centre of the city of Ebonvale, a tall narrow castle that towers over the rest of the buildings. It is the seat of the High Lord Sybrant and his family.
Fellgrove
Fellgrove is a town in western Serukis, located on the edge of a forest in the high lordship of Hargrove.
The Barrett Demory School
The Barrett Demory School was founded in the town of Fellgrove in 5324 EA by Caleb Demory, brother of the current Lord Demory and author of 'The Adventures of Farrow' novels.
Fellgrove Castle
Fellgrove Castle lies at the edge of the town of Fellgrove, its grounds extending into the nearby forest. It is the home of Lord Demory and his family, who govern a large lordship inside the high lordship of Hargrove.
The Ember
The temple of Elian, Lord of Fire, in Fellgrove, the Ember is the heart of the community.
Frosthollow
Frosthollow is located on the slopes of Mount Evershear, and is the settlement located at the highest altitude in all of Serukis. It is the seat of High Lord Ereth and his family.
The Frozen Keep
The Frozen Keep is the seat of Lord Demory and his family, located in the town of Frosthollow. It sits above the rest of the town, its towers reaching up towards the sky, sharpened into thin points to discourage settling snow..
Greypond
Greypond is a small village in Serukis, located on the edge of the low lordship of Cresley.
Gullcliffe
Gullcliffe is a large port town to the northwest of Serukis, located at the mouth of the Kingsrush river. It has a population of around two thousand people.
Hope's Fall
Hope's Fall is a tiny village of twenty-six people in the middle of Serukis's Black Forest.
Lord's Rock
Lord's Rock is a large city in Serukis, located along the coast from the mouth of the Lordsrush river. It is where the Elenasia family have their castle, and their traditional seat of power.
The Sapphire House
The Sapphire House is the headquarters for the Seruic Sapphire Guild, located in the city of Lord's Rock.
Temple of Temperance
The Temple of Temperance is a temple dedicated to Nereus, the Lord of Water, built to replace the former temple when it was turned into a hospital.
Lord's Rock Harbour
The city of Lord's Rock is built in a narrow bay, where coastal rocks and cliffs have formed a natural harbour sheltering the settlement from the worst of the storms on the Grey Waters.
The Arbour
The Arbour is the high temple of Faolan, the Lord of Earth. It is located in the city of Lord's Rock, and is the largest building in the city besides the castle itself.
Lord's Rock Castle
The castle of Lord's Rock is built into and on top of a cliff, towering over the rest of the city. It is home to the Elenasia family, and the seat of power of High Lord Elenasia.
Lord's Rock Tunnels
Underneath the castle of Lord's Rock is a vast network of tunnels, deliberately carved into the rock throughout the centuries.
The Castle Library
The Castle Library, located in the castle of Lord's Rock, has one of the most extensive collections of literature in the whole of Serukis.
The Shield's Slumber
The Shield's Slumber is a special chamber built alongside the Elenasia family crypts under the castle of Lord's Rock. Its purpose is to hold the body of the Shield if he dies before the High Lord.
The Elenasia Family Crypts
The Elenasia family crypts are located underneath the castle of Lord's Rock, carved into deep chambers beneath the earth. Only the high lords and their Shields are allowed to be laid to rest here.
The Elenasia Family Cemetery
Nestled in the grounds of the castle of Lord's Rock lies the Seruic Royal Cemetery. Surrounded by high stone walls and locked wrought iron gates, it is a private place of mourning and reflection for the Elenasia family.
Oldcastle
Oldcastle is a large town within the high lordship of Elenasia. It has a castle of its own, often used as a secondary residence for the Elenasia family, and often given over to the stewardship of a brother, nephew, or cousin of the high lord.
Hi, everyone! I'm Emy. I've got a PhD in Creative Writing, and am currently working out what to do next. I enjoy writing to explore themes and societal issues, and worldbuilding is an extension of that. I am also working on my art to be able to draw my characters and the world I am building. I'm sure that I'll start building more worlds now that I'm here. I have two cats, seven guinea pigs, and numerous fish, shrimp, and assassin snails.
