Reactions

Devious Strike (2/long rest). When a creature within 5 feet of the dilophosaurus targets it with an attack on its turn, the dilophosaurus can use its reaction to make one bite attack against the creature. The dilophosaurus makes its attack before the attacking creature.

Variant: Diverse Venom. Some variants of dilophosaurus and its relatives have venom that causes different effects. Choose an effect from the list below, or roll a d4 to decide which venom the creature has. A target that fails its saving throw from the dilo's bite suffers the chosen effect, replacing the poison damage.  
  1. Weakening Venom. The target is poisoned until the end of its next turn.
  2. Chilling Venom. The target's movement speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn. If the target rolls a 1 on its saving throw, it is paralyzed for 1 minute.
  3. Blinding Venom. The target is blinded until the end of its next turn.
  4. Enfeebling Venom. Until the end of the target's next turn, the damage of any weapon attacks it makes is reduced by 2d4.
