Lair Actions

Mountains scorpions seemingly have no Lairs, instead of lairs, sleeping in the dense underwood of the Eastern Forests seems to be the norm for them. There are some reports of underground breeding chamber were many scorpions come together to raise and protect their offspring, but those could not be verified until now.

Mountain Scorpions have a misleading name, as they, in fact, do only vaguely resemble a scorpion. Whilst their bodies generally are scorpion-like, they do only have a shorter non-poisonous tail with their poison instead coming from small needle-like extensions on the outside f their claws. This poison is not particularly strong, instead often only killing a human after a long and painful struggle which a healthy person often can survive. They are also coated in massive leathery plates, which can stop anything but the hardest ax blows. They are known to be affected by some madness, which sends them on a killing rampage and can last for weeks. When hunting them it is advised to surround them, as their extremely fast and twitchy movements and though head plating makes them almost unkillable in a frontal assault. Often spears are used to strike at the weeker underbelly and bleed the creature to death, whilst a lucky strike at the less protected "face" can also be very effective. Their though leathery armor is often the reason they are hunted, as it can be chemically formed into hard plates that are commonly used as armor.

They live almost exclusively in the vast woodlands that flank the Eastern Mountains, with some adventurers claiming to have found them even in the deep caverns of said mountains.
