Forgotten Stalkers. Believed to be related to the arachne, the chilopaari are a species of monstrous beings. A chilopaari appears to have the upper torso of a human with the lower torso of a gargantuan centipede. They are born in the Baleful Below, and are the most common race from the Below to be seen on any of Zethaas' continents. They are survivalists by nature and are elusive, as they are treated as disgusting monsters by most communities. Chilopaari are known to live underground or in sewer systems, creating small survivalist communities in hopes they are never discovered. Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1. Age. Chilopaari reach adulthood at around age 9 and live less than 2 centuries. Alignment. Chilopaari are used to having to only care for themselves. Most of their kind tend to be neutral, though some can occasionally fall to evil if mistreated too much. Size. The human body of a chilopaari is about 4 feet tall, while the centipede portion of their forms can reach up to 12 feet in length. Chilopaari rarely stand more than 5 feet tall, however. Your size is large. Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Centipede Half. Due to your monstrous lower torso, you count as a monstrosity in addition to a humanoid creature type. Though your size is large, your humanoid body is of similar scale to other humanoid races. You count as medium for the purpose of holding weapons. In addition, due to your lower body, you cannot make use of mounts. Superior Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Chitinous Form. The hard exoskeleton of your lower body bolsters your defenses while you aren't armored. While not wearing armor, your AC equals 12 + your Constitution modifier. Toxic Saliva. The venom within your saliva is able to be weaponized due to its versatile nature. As a bonus action, you can coat a melee weapon, arrow, or crossbow bolt with your venom. The next attack that weapon, arrow, or crossbow bolt lands deals an additional 1d8 poison damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses during a long rest. At later levels, the potency of your venom increases. The damage becomes 1d10 at 5th level, 1d12 at 10th level, and 2d12 at 17th level.
