Age - Canis reach maturity at the age of 16, and can live for as long as 80.
Alignment - Most Canis lean towards lawful, choosing to follow the hierarchy of the pack. The race as an entirety does not lean towards either good or evil, doing only what they perceive to be what is best for the pack.
Size - Canis stand between 4 and just below 7 feet tall, their stature varying because of their subspecies and upbringing. Their weight varies equally as much, ranging from 90 to 195 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Darkvision - You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Hearing and Smell - You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Natural Weapons - Your jaws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with a bite attack, you deal 1d4 + your Strength modifier piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. In addition, you can choose to use a bonus action to attempt to drag an enemy prone when you hit with your bite attack. The target makes a Strength saving throw, the DC of which is 8 + Proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier.
Languages - You can speak Common and Lupine. Lupine is a rough sounding language composed mostly of barks, howls and growls. This language is primarily used to deliver short orders such as "Stop!", "Retreat!", and "Charge!". Prolonged conversations between two Canis involve more body language and subtle shifts in expressions, punctuated by the occasional snippet of dialog in Lupine.
There are two subraces of Canis: the even-tempered Cordatus and the menacing Indomitus.

Everyone's Best Friend - Domesticatus gain proficiency in the Persuasion skill if they don't already have it.
